This is a nice Japanese Arisaka Type 30 bayonet with hooked quillon and made by the Nagoya Arsenal complete with its steel scabbard and leather frog. The Nagoya Arsenal was established in 1923 with factories in Atsuta, Kozo, Toriimatsu and Tachikawa. The Arsenal managed research and development of new weapons as well as the manufacture of weapons. The blade retains all of its original blued finish and measures 15 ½ “with fullers. The blade is marked to the ricasso with the trademark of the Nagoya Arsenal. The grips are wooden held by two screw bolts and the pommel is numbered 41154. The scabbard retains much of its original blued finish and is a small ball tipped metal version. The Type 30 three piece leather frog has a makers mark on the rear (illustrated). The leather scabbard retaining strap is split. See, Bayonets of Japan by Raymond. C. Labar, pages 149-152. *WWI British ‘P13’ Mk1 Sword, Bayonet Enfield Scabbard and Frog. BAYO 266. - BAYO 266
This is a great example of the ‘P13’ bayonet, which although designated ‘P13’, fit the ‘P14’ 303 rifle and was not introduced until ‘1916’. It is marked to the blade with ‘1913’ over ‘1 16’ (Jan 1916) and ‘Remington’ in a circle. The other side of the blade carries British inspection stamps including bend mark and Broad Arrow. The vast majority of these bayonets were made in America by ‘Remington and Winchester’ with only a few made in England by ‘Vickers’. The wooden unmarked grips have two grooves on either side to distinguish it from the ‘P1907’. The pommel is marked ‘247’ to one side. The scabbard is a British Enfield ‘No1 MKI’ with a teardrop frog stud which has a Broad arrow E.N.F and ‘78’. The frog is a leather version in excellent condition. The leather and metalwork on the scabbard and frog are in excellent order with all stitching in place. A very nice collectable ‘1913’ bayonet. See ‘White & Watts’ No 826 pages 395 & 324. The price includes U.K. delivery. BAYO 266. (Box 3)

South African No 9 Pattern Bayonet and Scabbard. BAYO 138. - BAYO 138
This is a bayonet unique to South Africa and was made, probably by Armscor in the 1960's to fit the No 4 Rifle. They were made using the No 9 type socket and an Uzi blade as South Africa was already using the Uzi Sub Machine Gun. These bayonets were issued to local defence groups known as 'Commandos' who were using the No 4 rifle. The scabbard is the original metal scabbard from the Uzi bayonet but new nylon scabbards were also used. (See Skennerton's book, item 56, page 370). The price includes UK delivery. BAYO 138.

Late Production Arisaka Type 30 Bayonet and Scabbard Manufactured at Toyoda Jidoshoki Seisakusho (Toyoda Automatic Loom Works) under Nagoya supervision 21215. - 21215
During the 2nd World War the Type 30 (1897) Ariska bayonet underwent gradual changes to facilitate production; the finished bayonets becoming progressively cruder towards the end of the war. There is considerable interest attached to these variations which may well be compared to the German ersatz bayonets and Italian WWI emergency productions. See No 470 page 203 & 210 of Watts & White for reference. Stamped on the right ricasso indicating are the arsenals at which the bayonets were manufactured, or the arsenal that supervised the subcontractor, this one being; Toyoda Jidoshoki Seisakusho (Toyoda Automatic Loom Works) under Nagoya supervision. The blade length; 15 ½ “(overall length; 20”). The blade is in very good condition with only minor signs of age related wear. The wooden grips are held with two pins and are in good order; the press stud catch is in perfect working order. The scabbard is metal and has light staining consistent with age, there are no dents apparent. The price includes UK delivery. 21215. (Box 2)
