Imperial German Deer Hunting Skinning Knife By Stephan Nenning Munchen With Stag Horn Handle, Silver Mounts & Sheath With Ornate Silver Mounts. ED 2160 - ED 2160
This is an original Imperial German era Deer hunting skinning knife with original sheath. It has a Stag Horn handle with plain Silver pommel cap. It also has a Silver ferrule ornately engraved with an Oak leaf design. The knife has a 4" single edged blade with integral finger guard and is crisply marked on one side by the manufacturer or retailer ‘Stephan Nenning Munchen’. The blade is undamaged and has staining consistent with age. There is no damage to the blade and the cutting edge is sharp with no nicks. It measures 7 ¾” overall length. The dagger is complete with original black leather sheath which has a silver chape and throat mount. Both are ornately decorated with Oak leaves and panels featuring Stags in the field and banners & arms. All leather and stitching are intact. This is an original WW1 Era German Trench Dagger. It has a Stag Horn handle with German Silver pommel cap which is hand etched with unit mark 'A3'. It also has a German Silver ferrule. The knife has a 4" single edged blade nicely marked 'Garantiert Stahl'. The point of the blade has a small nick. It measures 8 1/2" overall. SOLD SOLD (25/03) WW1/WW2 Imperial German Army Taschenmesser Trench Dagger/ Utility Clasp Lock knife By Mercator, DRGM Marked. Sn 9770 - 9770
Taschenmesser Clasp Lock knives were popular amongst Imperial German troops during WW1 due to their locking blade and which allowed them to used as a fighting knife and the folding utility tools. Many saw service throughout both World Wars. (see page 33 item 123 of Stephen's book 'Fighting Knives'. This example is in excellent original condition. The knife is blackened throughout and it's 4" single edged blade locks in place securely. The thumb operated locking bar works perfectly. The ricasso of the blade is crisply marked by the manufacturer 'MERCATOR' and the reverse crisply marked 'Solingen'. The 2 additional folding tools (illustrated) fold securely into the steel handle. This is an excellent, original, WW1 Model 1917 Austrian Fighting knife By George Roth. It has a broad, clean 8 " single edged blade (12 1/2" overall) and undamaged slab wood grips. One grip has 2 grooves to assist grip. The knife has a straight cross guard and the ricasso of the blade is crisply stamped with the makers monogram (illustrated). It is complete with steel scabbard with original black paint finish. The scabbard is undented and at the rear has it's rivetted 2 bar fixing for strap/ belt attachment.
