**UNUSUAL SNUBNOSE VARIANT**QUALITY**Pietta Italy Colt Model 1860 Army .44 Calibre Cap & Ball Percussion Revolver With 3” Barrel Blued & Colour Case Hardened Frame, With Factory Brass Loading Rod. Sn 22643:26 - 22643:26
The Colt Model 1860 Army was a muzzle-loading cap & ball .44-calibre revolver used during the American Civil War. It was used as a side arm by Cavalry, Infantry, Artillery troops, and Naval forces. The pistols live on today in the form of Modern Italian firearms manufacturers such as Pietta. The unusual Pietta 1860 Snub Nose Army Revolver is a modified version of the original Civil War Colt 1860 Army revolver. The sturdy pistol features a short barrel, for easier transportation. This model features the same classic .44 calibre design with a shorter 3” barrel (9 ½” overall). A unique feature of the snub nose is the removed loading lever that typically comes on the full size 1860 Army revolvers. To mitigate for the removed loading lever a brass loading tool is included from the Pietta factory with these revolvers. To provide a beautiful and authentic looking finish Pietta has blued the barrel and cylinder as well as colour case hardening the action and hammer. It has a brass grip frame and trigger guard. The butt of the grip frame has the notch found on original civil war Colt Army revolvers to accommodate a shoulder stock. Our example is near mint. The barrel is stamped with maker and calibre detail (all illustrated). The pistol is serial number P100287 and it has its original factory supplied brass loading rod. The pistol’s original Walnut grip undamaged. The pistols single action cocking and firing mechanism works crisply. The price includes deactivation certificate & UK delivery. Sn 22643:26
