Set of 4 books on Third Reich & Imperial Medals & Awards. BO 358 - BO 358
This is a set of 4 books. The first book is on medal ribbons and orders of Imperial Germany and Austria by D.G Neville and was published in 1974. This is a beautifully illustrated book in colour and with a scholarly text covering all known awards and medal ribbons. The second is a book by Mark Hayden published in 2001 on German military bars 1914 – 1957 and is again profrsely illustrated with colour and black and white plates with a scholarly text. The third book is on German wound badges in W.W.2 by Rolf Michaelis and was published in 2012. The book covers all versions of the Nazi wound badges and is profusely illustrated with contemporary photographs of the wound badge in wear as well as detailed photographs of the award badge itself together with award documents etc. The fourth cook is a copy of medals of the Third Reich by Christopher Ailsby and was published in 1987. This book is again profusely illustrated in colour and black and white with detailed descriptions of the award and historical backgrounds. This is the first and second editions of Adrian Forman’s pioneering word on the Third Reich awards and their values. The books cover all known awards, both military and civil. Although the prices are out of date, the value in the books is as an invaluable catalogue of the items that were produced. Volume one is a first edition published in 1988 and is signed by the author, whereas volume two was published in 1992. This is a nice 2 volume set of awards of the Third Reich by an acknowledged expert of all aspects of the period. Volume one covers military awards whilst volume two covers political and civil awards. Volume one was published in 1976 and volume two in 1978 and both are first editions. The books are both profusely illustrated with a scholarly text and description of each award. These range from the iron cross to veterans awards in the military volume and Red Cross to youth awards in the political and civil volume.
