**SCARCE**C1870 Bodyguard of the Khedive of Egypt (Khedivate Ismail Pasha 1867 – 1879) Iron Helmet With Adjustable Iron & Brass Arrow Form Nose / Face Guard & Chain Mail Protective Neck Guard Skirt. Sn 22825 - 22825
A nice original scarce helmet of the Bodyguard of the Khedive of Egypt circa 1870 (Khedivate Ismail Pasha 1867 – 1879). Its iron skull is clean with just one shallow dent to the rear aspect consistent with service use. It has brass mounts including flights of the arrow-shaped adjustable nasal bar, retaining bracket, applied embossed border and turned over edge of the neck-guard. The left and right sides of the helmet are absent their original boss mounts. The iron Islamic crescent finial fixes to the prominent brass boss surmounting the skull. Scottish Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regiment Other Ranks Ostrich Feather Bonnet With Plume / Hackle & Regiment Badge & Plaid Brooch. HE 859 - HE 859
The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (Princess Louise's) was an Infantry Regiment of the British Army until amalgamation into The Royal Regiment of Scotland in 2006. During the Crimean War The Highlanders earned the sobriquet of “The Fighting Highlanders” and carried with it the status of having been the original “Thin Red Line”. This title was bestowed following the action of the 93rd at Balaclava on 25 October 1854 in which the Highlanders alone stood between the undefended British Army base at Balaclava and 4 Squadrons of charging Russian Cavalry. This is an original Other Ranks Feather Bonnet to the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. It is clean with black ostrich feathers, which give it the distinctive voluminous appearance and creates a protective, ventilated cap over a wire frame. The left side is fitted with its original other ranks white feather plume / hackle and black silk patch mounted with Regimental white metal badge. It has the correct broad diced headband of red & white chequered wool & black cloth ribbons, or "tails". The bonnet is complete with leather sweatband with hand written name which looks like ‘Dermot Fallon’ written over a faded unreadable maker / retailer label, silk liner with draw string and leather chin strap all clean condition with light service wear. The bonnet is approx UK size 6. Included is a white metal plaid brooch found with the Bonnet. The brooch features cast Thistle motifs and has a hinged pin to the rear. The price includes UK delivery. The Seaforth Highlanders (Ross–shire Buffs, The Duke of Albany's) was a historic Regiment of the British Army formed in 1881. The Regiment was associated with large areas of the northern Highlands of Scotland. After several mergers, the Seaforth Highlanders are now incorporated in the Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons) Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. During WW1 the Regiment fought in multiple theatres with battalions serving on the Western Front including the Somme and Passchendaele, Mesopotamia and Egypt. This is an original WW1 era Glengarry with original solid silver (all parts tested positive silver) 3 Piece Seaforth Highlanders Regiment Badge in excellent condition. The badge is mounted on a field of black silk and has the correct mounting lugs secured by split pins to the rear. The Glengarry has dark blue serge body which has small areas of service wear, headband, red and white chequered wool band & red pom-pom at the crown. This is an excellent, original, WW2, steel 'Tommy' Combat helmet. This helmet has its original black paint finish with ARP Bomb Warden’s large white paint stencilled ‘7 BW’ designation to the front (most likely Bomb Warden Number 7). The paint has areas of wear to be expected and has no dents. The inner rim of the helmet is stamped ‘E-16’ possibly a batch number. There are no visible date or maker marks but they may be present under the paint. It has its original undamaged oil cloth sweat band liner & elasticate webbing chinstrap with buckle all of which are clean and intact. The helmet is approx. UK size 6. The price includes UK delivery. The M15 Adrian helmet (French: Casque Adrian) was a combat helmet issued to the French Army during World War 1. It was the first standard helmet of the French Army and was designed when millions of French troops were engaged in trench warfare The later M 1926 helmet was made of a single piece of pressed steel without joining rim and top combe. The Service de Santé des Armées (SSA) was the French medical corps during World War I, responsible for providing medical care for soldiers, including selection, health assessments, and care during operations and recovery. It operated through various levels of care, from the immediate medical posts in combat units to surgical treatment in field hospitals and further treatment in army teaching hospitals. The SSA’s mission was supported by various personnel, including physicians and surgeons, and it contributed to the national public health system even after military service. This is an original WW1 M15 French Adrian Combat Helmet complete with sweatband liner and chinstrap with buckle most likely presented to a WW1 French Army Surgeon Officer Veteran in memory of the Great War. The helmet is fitted with an original Infantry RF SSA helmet plate featuring the Rod of Asclepius, with a single snake on a staff representing medicine and healing & has an ornate brass plate riveted to the brim engraved ‘Soldat De La Grande Guerre (Soldier Of The Great War) 1914-1918’. The helmet has scuffs, a few small dents and patina consistent with age and retains its original field grey paint finish. It is approx UK size 7.
