Framed Engraving ' Portrait of a Sergeant' by L. Rint dated 1911 from an original by J.L.E. Meissonier 1864. ( Sn 7858:3) - 7858:3
This is a framed engraving by L Rint, dated 1911, titled 'PORTRAIT OF A SERGEANT'. It depicts a Napoleonic Sergeant outside an Inn. It is in its original frame with a label for ' Charles Nichols & Sons Picture Dealers Manchester ' attached to the back. ( illustrated). The engraving is signed in pencil by Rint. J.L.E. Meissonier ( 1815-1891) was a French atrist famous for his classicist paintings, sculpture & especially his depictions of Napoleon and his armies. He exhibited widely and was a favourite of Napoleon III. The engraving measures 22 x 14 cms there is no foxing to the print. The frame is 56 x 47cm. The frame is original and complete but would benefit from minor restoration. The price includes UK delivery. ( Sn 7858:2)

A 21" x 25" wooden frame containing an embroidered silk Battle Honours of the Queen's, West Surrey Regiment. Very nice piece and with it is a very large photograph in a card frame measuring 26" x 20" of a soldier of the Regiment. He has a nice Divisional Arm badge of a Shamrock over a bar. Border Regiment Memorium silks and Photograph. - PI 5
47cm x 33cm framed photograph and 2 silk memorium bookmarks to the Whitfield family. There is a family photograph in the centre and on the left a memorial silk to 16695 Pte. Frank Whitfield, 2nd Border Regt. KIA 25.9.1915 in France aged 19, of 24 Rock st, Openshaw, Manchester. On the right is a memorium silk to Lydia Clarke, the mother of Ellen Whitfield, who died 29.11.1914, of 8 New St. Droylsden. The frame and rear are original and have never been opened. PI 5
