VERY RARE, BATTLE OF BRITAIN CONNECTIONS, WW2 Era British Spitfire / Hurricane Fighter Aircraft Rear Alloy Wheel With Original Air Ministry Marked Tyre. AE 558 - AE 558
The iconic British Spitfire and Hurricane aircraft played a Major role in the pivotal WW2 Battle of Britain 10th July 1940-31st October 1940. Original Spitfire & hurricane parts are very rare to find. This is a very rare WW2 Era Spitfire & Hurricane fighter aircraft rear wheel and tyre. The rubber tyre is worn but has no holes or cuts and many embossed numbers and marks including an Air Ministry ‘Crown AM’ mark (all markings illustrated in image 2). The aircraft grade alloy wheel hub has the correct bolt / axle holes and has no damage, dents or cracks. The hub is 4 ½” diameter. The tyre is 12” diameter and 4 ¼” tread width. WW2 1944 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) Fighter Pilot's A-11 Leather Flying Helmet With Western Electric Wired Communications, Ear Phones & Jack. Sn 15339:11 - 15339:11
An original WW2 American pilot's leather flying helmet (see page 4 of the book Flying Headgear Of The World 1934-45 by Weld)). The helmet is made of thick dark brown leather Chamois leather lining. It has the correct leather chin strap with buckle and oxygen mask hook & press studs. The Western Electric wired ear pieces are covered by hard rubber. The right side of the helmet has the gold printed Army Air Force insignia. The inside of the helmet has clean and undamaged and has a clean United States Air Force property label with A-11 model designation, ‘44’ (1944) order number code and other number codes together with size 'Medium'. There is also an ink stamped ‘Army Air Force’ ink printed mark (all illustrated). The ear phones are marked by the maker Western Electric and with stores /parts codes (illustrated). The jack is numbered ‘PL-345’. All material and leather of the helmet are clean and intact. The display head illustrated in the images is not included. WW2 1945 Nazi German 'LKpW-101’ Leather Luftwaffe Fighter Pilot's Fleece Lined Flying Helmet By Siemens, Wired For Communication With Ear Phones, Throat Mic & Jack. Sn 15339:6 - 15339:6
An original WW2 era LKpW-101 Luftwaffe pilot's leather flying helmet, these helmets were fitted with a newly developed Siemens communications system and improved insulation for better sound transmission (see pages 75 & 235 of the book Vintage Flying Helmets by Prodger). The helmet is made of thick dark brown leather lined with fleece. Goggle straps and chinstraps are correctly made of leather as are the throat mic neck straps. The leather covers hard rubber ear pieces and feature a ridge for goggle retention. The helmet has the correct hooks for face mask. The inside of the helmet has clean and undamaged Sieman’s manufacturer’s label with model designation, 12th August 1945 date and size '56' (illustrated). This helmet is wired for communication with ear phones, bakelite throat mics and bakelite jack all marked with manufacturer codes (illustrated). WW2 1939 Battle Of Britain Era Royal Air Force 'B' Type Leather Flying Helmet By Frank Bryan Size 6 1/2"-6 3/4". Sn 14480 - 14480
A WW2 Battle Of Britain era, un-touched condition Air Ministry 'B' type flying helmet, complete with large maker label. The helmet leather is in a very supple condition, showing very light honest service use only and now appearing dark tan / brown in colour. It is sized inside on a label to 6 1/2" - 6 3/4". All straps and buckles are present and in good matching order. The interior of helmet shows light use, wear. It has a silk maker label present giving details "Size 1 6 1/2" to 6 3/4 A.M. 22c-65 Made by Frank Bryan Limited London & Worcester 1939". Below this is an ink stamp with "Aid GT9" inside a circle. In all an excellent helmet, becoming harder to find especially in this condition. The archetypal WW2 RAF flying helmet, much used during the ’Battle of Britain’. The price includes UK delivery. It is profusely illustrated and has many 'pull out, scale drawings. It is complete with a dust wrapper. The second is 'Royal Naval Air Service 1912-1918' by Brad King. This is signed by the author. It was published in 1997. This is fully illustrated in colour and in black and white. It is complete with a dust wrapper. The last one is 'The RFC/RNAS Handbook 1914-18, written by Peter G. A limited edition, 180/500 signed print 'Typhoon Fury' by Robert Bailey. The print depicts 'Belgium, September 1944. Typhoon pilot F/Lt. Harry Hardy, DFC CD of 440 Squadron, R.C.A.F. overflies German heavy armour positions'. This is a very graphic print which is signed by F/Lt. Harry Hardy on the bottom centre left. The print is also signed by six others. The reverse of the print has an information sheet with details of six of the Principal Pilots including F/Lt. Harry Hardy D.F.C. C.D. The print is professionally framed behind glass and the frame is in excellent condition. On the reverse it has a hanging wire and loops making it ready for hanging on the wall. The frame measures 37" X 30 1/2". The price for this print does not include delivery, it is delivery by arrangement and is not suitable for overseas delivery.
