This is an American drill round for (30x173) GAU-8 7 barrelled Gatling aircraft gun fitted to the Republic A10 tank buster aircraft, produced from 1977 and is capable of firing 4,200 rounds per minute. The alloy cartridge case has an brass coloured lacquered finish with some wear to the case mouth. The steel projectile has a wide nylon driving bands and appears to have a dummy alloy fuse. The projectile is held by a long allen bolt through the primer pocket. There is no headstamp to the cartridge case. This is a Rare INERT unfired WW2 German Kriegsmarine U-Boat German 20mm Flak 38 APHEI/T (Armour Piercing High Explosive Incendiary Trace) round for the Soluthern 20mm Flak 38 anti-aircraft gun. This gun was often in the Quad Vierling 38 mount on the Bandstand of operational U Boats, used as the main anti-aircraft weapon. The lacquered steel cartridge case is percussion primed and retains most of the original lacquer. The headstamp is rrm (obscured waffenampt stamp?) 45 9 .The projectile is a APHEI/T (Armour Piercing High Explosive Incendiary Trace) iron driving banded projectile and is stamped above the driving band ctu 253/ 44. It retains approximately 90% or the original yellow, blue and green paint. The projectile is stencilled In black round its circumference kc 9/45 waffenampt. INERT DEACTIVATED. This is an extremely rare unfired 1 inch (25.4 x 55R) Bennet inside primed, centre fire round for the American Gatling gun invented by Richard J. Gatling in 1862. The round consists of a drawn copper cartridge case which has a Bennett inside primer is inserted into the case and crimped in by two long external stab crimps into the bottom of the copper cartridge case. There is no headstamp on the base of the cartridge case which is normal. The solid lead healed bullet has two cannelures.
