C1865 Liege Proofed Chamelot & Delvigne 9mm Pin Fire Obsolete Calibre 6 Shot Double Action Revolver With Silver Inlay Ornate Decoration, Folding Trigger & Octagonal Barrel. Sn 17905 - 17905
A Liege proofed 6 shot 9mm double action pinfire revolver number 1764 made C1865. It has an octagonal 4 ¼” barrel. The barrel is marked “CHAMELOT & DELVIGNE INon Btee”. The cylinder has Liege proofs. The barrel has simple silver line inlay, the cylinder and frame are engraved with chequered panels inlaid with silver borders and pique studs. It has a knurled capstan bolt securing the barrel & antique Ivory grips. The butt has lanyard ring. The barrel’s bore has just light staining consistent with age & crisp rifling. It has a folding trigger, blade fore sight and notched plate rear sight. The pistol has the typical Chamelot & Delvigne type side loading gate and has a captive sliding ejector rod. The pistol's firing mechanism works as it should in both single and double action. A Belgian 6 shot 7mm Lefaucheux type double action side gate loading, pin fire revolver made C1865. It retains its original blue finish. It has a 3 ¼” octagonal barrel. The top barrel flat is gold inlaid in gothic script “Uba. Laport & Irmaos” (Rio de Janeiro), Liege ‘ELG*’ proved cylinder. The cylinder and frame are inlaid with gold lines, game dogs and flying game birds. It has a captive ejector rod, folding trigger, and plain antique ivory grips. The pistol’s bore is clean with typical light rifling. It has a blade fore sight and the rear sight consists of a grooved hammer. The pistol is double action only. Adrien Pliers was a Liege gunmaker who received at least 6 different firearms patents between 1855 and 1866. This is a Belgian Liege 6 shot 12mm single action pin fire revolver with unusual loading mechanism & captive ejector rod by Adrien Pliers. The unusual ejector rod is clipped beneath the barrel, which hinges outwards and then slides in the conventional manner. The loading system is also most unusual, consisting of a revolving disc behind the cylinder with a single aperture which when at half cock is aligned with a chamber allows the cartridge to be inserted, (we have not seen this type of mechanism before). The revolver has a 6 ¼”, 2 stage barrel and measures 12” overall. The barrel has a triangular post fore sight and the rear sight consists of a notch in the hammer. Its rifled bore has staining and residue consistent with age and use. The cylinder has Liege proofs. The metal work in the white has panels of engraved foliate decoration on the action frame. The breech is stamped “A.PLIERS BREVETE” & engraved “BIJON S MONTE-VIDEO”, The walnut grips are undamaged. The butt has military lanyard ring. This is a good Victorian double barrel muzzle loading percussion shotgun in English form. It has all original Walnut furniture with chequered panels at the wrist. The wood has knocks bumps and bruises to be expected. The underside of the stock has a void German silver escutcheon & It has a steel butt plate. The shotgun with double 30”, Damascus steel barrels, has double hammers & triggers. It measures 46” overall. The barrel has a brass bead fore sight. The action, hammers and trigger guard with extended tang have foliate engraved decoration. There are no visible manufacturer marks. The cocking & firing actions of the weapon work as they should. The barrels smooth bores are clean. The Shotgun has an ebonised wood ram rod with horn end cap and brass tube tip. The price includes UK delivery. Victorian British 1869 BSA Co Snider Patent 3 Band .577 Obsolete Calibre Rifle. Sn 18096 - 18096
This is an excellent example of the Snider 3 Band Rifle. The action plate is stamped by the manufacturer 'BSA Co 1869'. It has all original undamaged wood work, brass butt plate, fore end block and trigger guard with extended tang. The rifle also has its original ladder rear sight, block and blade fore sight. It is without cleaning rod. The barrel has a clean bore with crisp rifling and is stamped with inspection marks. The breech is stamped with ‘BSA Co’ trade mark and Snider patent marks. It has the correct breech cover with press lever locking catch. The cocking and firing actions are crisp. Total length is 54 ½” with a 36 ½” barrel. Early 1800’s Gun Size James Dixon & Sons Sheffield Quick Loading Fireproof Leather Covered Iron Black Powder Flask With Graduated, German Silver Sprung Brass Nozzle Charger. Sn 17987 - 17987
Hunting accessories were added to the British Gunmaker James Dixon & Sons Sheffield production line in the 1830s. This included powder and shot flasks in copper and brass, leather shot pouches and hunting belts. Other sporting goods such as wine and spirit flasks, as well as sandwich and cheese boxes, proved to be very popular with consumers. The line continued to expand as firearm technology progressed. A complete catalogue of Dixon's hunting accessories was produced in 1876. Dixon's continued to make these items well into the 1900s. Decoration of 19th century powder flasks varied dramatically with hunting, game animals, foliate, village, military and marine scenes together with a variety of material coverings. This quality flask falls into the Leather covered category (see page 388, the Chapter ‘Leather & Leather Covered’ of the powder flask book by Riling). This is an excellent, gun size, black powder flask by James Dixon & Sons Sheffield. It’s iron body is leather covered with stitched seam. The screw top German Silver charger has measurement adjustment ‘ 2 ½ , 2 ¾, 3, 3 ¼ drams’ and spring lever which is fully functioning with a strong action. The charger is crisply marked ‘James Dixon & Sons Sheffield’ and ‘Quick Loading Fireproof’. The flask is 8 ¼” length and 3 ½” diameter at its widest. The body has no dents. There are no cracks, damage or signs of repair and the leather covering & stitching all clean and intact. The leather has just a few areas of surface scuffs to be expected.
