1873 Imperial German Seitengewehr Model 1871 P.D. Luneschloss Solingen Brass Hilt Bayonet For The M1871 Mauser Rifle With Regiment Mark ’73.R.E.4.111’, Scabbard With Regiment Mark ’84.R.8.186’ & Original Leather Frog. Sn 22885 - 22885 An Imperial German Seitengewehr (side arm for the rifle) M1871 bayonet for the 1871 Mauser Rifle by P.D. Luneschloss Solingen with scabbard and frog (see page 116 item 245 and page 113 of The Bayonet Book by John Watts and Peter White). The bayonet has brass grips, smooth on one side and grooved on the reverse. The smooth side is stamped with imperial inspection mark. The hilt has a push button release for the bayonet which operates smoothly. The cross guard has Regiment mark ’73.R.E.4.111’. The blade is manufacturer marked ‘P.D. Luneschloss Solingen’. The clean single edged steel blade with fullers measures 18 ½” length ( 23 ½” overall). The spine has Imperial inspection mark above ‘73’ date (1873). The scabbard is leather and has a brass throat mount with frog bar and brass chape with ball end. The throat mount and frog bar have Imperial inspection marks. The frog bar has Regiment mark ’84.R.8.186’. The scabbard is fitted with original period leather frog with belt loop and retaining strap with brass buckle. All of the frog’s original copper rivets are present. The rear of the belt loop has impressed indistinct numbers. The frog has areas of service wear but all stitching is intact. British, Pattern 1853/72 Martini Henry Socket Bayonet and Scabbard. - BAYO 429 This triangular tapered socket bayonet was the first universal issue British Army bayonet to have a locking ring, modelled on a French design. It was introduced with the new Pattern 1853 Enfield Rifle Musket. This British-made accoutrement is an original angular socket bayonet made for the Model 1853 Enfield musket. The Enfield bayonet has the distinction of being the first universal issue bayonet to the British Army that employed a locking device. The blade was made of the best cast steel and had an iron socket welded to it. The bayonet with its French-style locking ring has a triangular tapered blade with fullers on each face and is carried in a brass-mounted leather scabbard. This is a Pattern 1853 Enfield socket bayonet converted by bushing the socket to 18mm with the designation Pattern 1853/72 socket bayonet bushed for the Martini Henry rifle. This example is 20½” long overall with a 17 ¼ ” long blade and a 3” long socket. The blade has various stampings on the shoulder near the socket including an feint Enfield inspection stamp with a crown. The socket retains much of its original blued finish. The black leather scabbard has a triangular body mounted with its original brass throat *with play but intact*, clasp hook with number 754 and tip *play but intact*. The leather body is in excellent strong condition with no flaking or crazing and the stitching is intact. A good pattern 1853/72 bayonet complete with its original leather scabbard. **MATCHING NUMBERS**RARE MAKER**Pre WW1 1910 Dated 1st Pattern JAC (James A. Chapman), Hook Quillion P1907 Bayonet Regiment Marked '2 CG' To The 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards, 1st Type Scabbard & 1914 Pattern Leather Frog Regiment Marked DLI. Sn 22288 - 22288 The Coldstream Guards are one of the 5 Foot Guards Regiments in the British Army Household Division - the personal troops of Her Majesty the Queen. Formed in 1650 as part of the New Model Army during the English Civil War, the Coldstream Guards swore allegiance to King Charles II in 1660 and has guarded the country's monarchs since. The Regiment’s anniversary is 23rd April (St George’s Day). The Regiment has fought in every major conflict involving British troops since their creation. This is an original 1st type hook quillion 1907 pattern bayonet for the Lee Enfield SMLE rifle Regiment marked to The 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards manufactured in 1910 by JAC (James A. Chapman was one of the smaller and rare to find manufacturers and only made approx. 300,000 bayonets compared to 2,360,000 made by Wilkinson). The ricasso is marked '1907 (Pattern), 'JAC' (Chapman) dated '10 (1910) & '13 (1913) King’s Crown ER (Edward Rex) & ordnance inspection marks. The reverse with WD broad arrow stamp. The blade is clean & undamaged. The original wood slab grips are undamaged and secured by the correct screw bolts. The pommel is Regiment marked '2 CG’ to The 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards and weapon number ‘388’. It is in its original 1st type brown leather scabbard with steel locket & internal chape which correctly has the tip of the chape exposed. The throat mount is stamped with matching number ‘388’. The scabbard is fitted with an original original 1914 pattern leather frog with single belt loop, retaining strap with brass buckle and helve carrier strap to the rear. All leather and stitching of the scabbard is clean and intact. All stitching on the leather frog is intact. The edges of the leather frog have some light service wear. The rear of the frog is Regiment marked ‘DLI’ to The Durham Light Infantry ( an Infantry Regiment of the British Army from 1881 to 1968. During the First World War the DLI raised 43 Battalions with 22 seeing active service overseas - on the Western Front, in Italy, Egypt, Salonika and India) & has number ‘269’. WW2 Era U.S Army M4 Knife Bayonet By Utica For M1 Carbines & M8A1 Scabbard By PWH (Pennsylvania Working Home For The Blind) & Thigh Cord. BAYO 206 - BAYO 206 This is an original WW2 US M4 Knife Bayonet by Utica complete with its original M8A1 scabbard by PWH (Pennsylvania Working Home For The Blind) & Thigh Cord (see page 107 of Cole’s book US Military Knives Book III). The bayonet is in excellent condition. It has the correct compressed leather rings handle in very good condition. Its razor sharp blackened steel blade measures 6 ¾” length. The cross guard is stamped 'US M4 Utica' and with the Frankford Arsenal ‘ignited grenade’ mark. The pommel has the correct ‘pincer’ bayonet release catch. Its original olive green plastic scabbard is correctly reinforced at the tip where it is holed for cord and fitted with boot lace thigh cord. It has the correct integral webbing frog with belt loop which has a single retaining strap with brass press stud fastener and steel wire belt bar. WW2 Era Nazi German Puma Solingen Wehrmacht Armed Forces & Police Units M98 NCO’s Short Dress Bayonet With ‘In Memory Of My War Service’ Etched Panel Blade & Scabbard. Sn 22775 - 22775 This is an original WW2 Nazi German M98 dress bayonet and scabbard. Short 7 ¾” blades were carried by NCO’s while longer blades (9 ¾”) were carried by enlisted personnel (see the book 'German Clamshells' page 15 by Gary L. Walker & R.J. Weinand). The dress sidearm for military and civilian uniformed formations was designated the M98 Dress Bayonet. This bayonet represented a stylised form of the S. 84/98 bayonet purchased by the individual for wear with the walkout dress uniform. This example has a rifle mortise and push button release (not designed to be fitted to a rifle, the stud button is functional but mortise often too small for rifle attachment. Other examples have false stud buttons or no button). The mortise of our bayonet has its original red felt lining (the coloured felt mortise insert denoted service assignment. Red felt denotes issue to Wehrmacht Armed Forces or Police Units). It has a factory nickel plated 7 ¾” blade (12 ½” overall). The nickel finish has wear and tarnish consistent with age an handling. One side of the blade has the maker’s name ‘Puma Solingen’ and trademark and a crisp etched panel featuring the Nazi Natinal Emblem ‘Eagle with swastika’ and German Combat Helmet’ either side of German text which roughly translates to ‘In Memory Of My War Service’. The blade has its original leather hilt washer. The cross guard and pommel are factory nickel plated & have wear and tarnish again consistent with age and handling. The original undamaged black Bakelite or Vulcanite grips are chequered and secured with two rivets. It has its original black military issue scabbard with lozenge shaped frog stud & ball tip. *RARE* WW1 Imperial German Army 2nd Type Seitengewehr (Sidearm) Model 1884/98 Sawback Bayonet For Stormtrooper’s Mauser Kar 98 Carbines & Gew 98 Infantry Rifles With Scabbard & Leather Frog. Sn 22748 - 22748 This is a nice original example of the rare M-1884/98 Sawback Bayonet (Seitengewehr Sidearm), for Stormtrooper’s Mauser Kar 98 Carbines & Gew 98 Infantry Rifles (see pages 115 and 129 & plate 286 of ‘The Bayonet Book’ by Watts & White). The sawback is only found on 2nd Types of these bayonets and are seldom seen. The bayonet has a 10” long clean single edged fullered blade with correct deep cut sawback section. The pommel has the correct steel release button which works as it should and mortice slot. The bayonet is just under 15 ½” overall length. The undamaged wood grips are secured by the correct screw bolts. The pommel & spine of the blade have Imperial German inspection marks (illustrated). The correct steel scabbard has frog bar and ball end. The ball end has an Imperial German inspection mark (illustrated). The scabbard has no dents and even patina. The original leather scabbard with single belt loop is clean & all leather and stitching intact. The surface of the leather has just light service wear consistent with age and service carry.
