WW1, Turkish, Ersatz Pattern Model 1890 Bayonet, Steel Scabbard and Leather Frog. Sn 23478:3 - 23478:3
This is a Turkish WW1 ersatz pattern 1890 bayonet with riveted on pressed steel grips. The bayonet has a tall slightly staggered crossguard and is stamped on the rear face with the Turkish crescent moon and star. The crossguard is stamped with the bayonet number 274 on the left hand side. The blade is single edged becoming double edged towards the tip. The pressed steel grips are retained by two domed steel rivets. The bayonet are contained in its original steel scabbard with a blunted finial, are held on by steel laces. The bayonet is complete with its brown leather frog which is stitched and riveted with a leather press stud retaining strap. See pages 278 - 284 and 150, item 230 of White & Watts, The Bayonet Book. WW1, Imperial German, Ersatz Pattern 98/05 Butcher Sawback Bayonet with High Ears, Steel & Leather Scabbard & Leather Frog. Sn 23478:2 - 23478:2
This is a rare German WW1 ersatz pattern 98/05 butcher bayonet with a sawback blade and riveted on pressed steel grips. The bayonet has large ears on the crossguard which is swept forward on the bottom. The blade is the standard butcher profile but is considerably narrower at 5.12mm wide at the crossguard as opposed to the usual 7mm wide. The spine of the blade at the hilt has a rounded profile as opposed to being ground flat and carries a crown over a stylised F inspection mark. The pressed steel grips have a cross drilled drain hole. The bayonet are contained in its original steel and leather scabbard with a steel locket and chape with a ball finial, are held on by steel laces. The bayonet is complete with its brown leather frog which is stitched and riveted. See pages 141-143 and 150, item 328 of White & Watts, The Bayonet Book. WW1, 1915 Dated, Imperial German E & F Horster Solingen, Pattern 98/05 Butcher Bayonet With Hessian Cord, Tasselled Knot & Leather Frog. Sn 23478:1 - 23478:1
An excellent, original German WW1, 1915 dated, Mauser 98/05 Butcher Bayonet. The bayonet has the correct un-damaged 9 groove wooden grips which are secured with two original screw bolts. The cross guard correctly has no muzzle ring. The steel blade is crisply marked on the ricasso by the manufacturer E&F HORSTER SOLINGEN. The spine of the blade is stamped with the crown over W15 (1915 date) and an inspection stamp. The pommel is marked with 2 inspection stamps. The clean blade measures 14 ¼ inches long with an overall length of 19 3/8 inches. The hilt is fitted with an original period Hessian cord & tasselled knot. The original steel scabbard has just light staining to be expected with age and service use. The push button spring release operates as it should. The scabbard has the correct frog stud and is fitted with a brown leather frog. See pages 113 – 156, item 267 of White & Watts, The Bayonet Book. 1893 Imperial German Seitengewehr Model 1871 Simson & Co Suhl Brass Hilt Bayonet For The M1871 Mauser Rifle & Scabbard With Regiment Mark ’78.A.5.11. Sn 23464 - 23464
An Imperial German Seitengewehr (side arm for the rifle) M1871 bayonet for the 1871 Mauser Rifle by Simson & Co Suhl with scabbard (see page 116 item 245 and page 113 of The Bayonet Book by John Watts and Peter White). The bayonet has brass grips, smooth on one side and grooved on the reverse. The smooth side is stamped with imperial inspection mark. The hilt has a push button release for the bayonet which operates smoothly. The blade is manufacturer marked ‘Simson & Co Suhl’. The single edged steel blade with fullers measures 18 ½” length ( 23 ½” overall). The blade has its original leather hilt washer. The spine has Imperial inspection mark above ‘93’ date (1893). The scabbard is leather and has a brass throat mount with frog bar and brass chape with ball end. The throat mount has Regiment mark ’78.A.5.11 (most likely 78th Battery 5th Artillery Regiment, Weapon 11). All leather & stitching is intact. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 23464 (German box 2)

Swiss Army Engineer’s / Pioneer’s Model 1914 Sawback Sword Bayonet For Model 1889 Schmidt Rubin Infantry Rifles By HS (Hans Steimer Wasen) & Swiss Army Marked Steel Scabbard. Sn 23462 - 23462 / 23460
An original Swiss Model 1914 sawback bayonet and scabbard (see page 272 Item 607 of The Bayonet Book by Watts and White). Introduced in 1914, these Saw back bayonets were issued to specialist troops such as Pioneers or Engineers. The bayonet’s smooth wood grips are excellent and undamaged & secured by 2 rivets. The polished steel pommel has a sprung push button bayonet release which works correctly. It has a straight cross guard with muzzle ring. The cross guard is numbered 46509. The ricasso of the blade is manufacturer marked HS (Hans Steimer Wasen) and has Swiss Army Cross mark. The saw back polished steel blade is superb with sharp deep cut sawback section on the spine. The clean blade measures 18 ¾” in length and is fullered. The bayonet measures 24” overall. The correct original scabbard is steel with fixed belt bar and has a ball end marked with a Swiss Cross Army acceptance mark. The scabbard is in excellent condition with no dents and has ‘P’ factory inspection mark near the fixed belt bar. The price for this impressive Swiss Army bayonet includes UK delivery. **RARE**LATE WW2 'LAST DITCH' Japanese Type 30 Arisaka Rifle Bayonet By Jinsen Arsenal (Japanese Occupied Korea) Variation R & Wood Scabbard With Steel Fittings. Sn 23463 - 23463
This 'Last Ditch' Japanese bayonet was made in the last stages of WW2 when Japan's resources were stretched. They were supplied with wood scabbards instead of the early war steel versions. The bayonet has wood grips, riveted on, a rectangular pommel with working steel release button and a crossguard without hooked quillon & muzzle ring. The pommel is numbered and has factory inspection marks (illustrated). It has a blackened single edged blade correctly without fullers and crude grinding marks present which are often found on these blades. The blade has crisp Jinsen Arsenal (Japanese Occupied Korea) mark. The emergency measures wood scabbard is undamaged and has steel chape, throat mount and 2 cord reinforcement bands in the mid section. In his book ‘Bayonets of Japan’ page 197, the author Labar describes these bayonets as uncommon and illustrates a similar bayonet which he describes as variation R.
