British 1853 Pattern Socket Bayonet & Scabbard. - BAYO 671
This is a nice early 1853 socket bayonet from the first batch ordered from the Birmingham manufacturers. A total of 20,020 bayonets were ordered of which 4100 were from Willian Beakin & Son and this example is marked Deakin to the blade together with W.D and a feint inspectors mark. Length overall is 20.5” with a blade length of 17” and a socket length of 3”. The Muzzle ring diameter (M.R.D) is 20mm. The early type scabbard is brass mounted brown leather with a teardrop frog stud. See Skennerton item B145 pages 105-109. A nice early marked 1853. £325 BAYO 671.

SOLD SOLD British 1907 Pattern Bayonet & Scabbard. - BAYO 669
This is a nice 1907 pattern bayonet made by Sanderson. It is marked to the blade with a crown over George Rex (G.R ) 1907 4 18 (April 1918 date of manufacture) and Sanderson. The other side carries a broad arrow and several inspection stamps. The crossguard carries the number 32 impressed. The pommel has the union of South Africa ownership stamp of an arrow within a U. The scabbard is the No2 Mk1 with a round frog stud. Se Skennerton page 368. A nice South African 1907 wartime dated bayonet. BAYO 669

British 1853 Pattern Socket Bayonet & Scabbard. - BAYO 668
British 1853 Pattern Socket Bayonet & Scabbard. This is a nice Birmingham maker marked 1853 socket bayonet from the second batch of 1853 pattern bayonets ordered from 1856 on, from both Enfield & The Birmingham trade makers. This example is stamped Reeves with an undecipherable mark below on the blade and the number 162 on the socket. The length overall is 20.5” with a blade length of 17” and a socket length of 3”. The Muzzle ring diameter (M.R.D) is 20mm. The scabbard is the early pattern (1853-1860) with teardrop frog stud let into the brown leather as opposed to the later variants where the frog stud was attached to the top locket. German Firemans Dress Bayonet & Scabbard. - BAYO 667
This is the long version of the Firemans Dress Bayonet as worn by the ranks of Feuerwehrmann to Brandmeister. WW2 era. It has a 9 Ύ “ blade with wide fullers and a recurving or ‘S’ shaped crossguard. The Pommel is solid with no mortise slot or release button and the grips are black chequered plastic. There is a very fine old hairline crack in one of the scales. Both scales are very solid and secure. There are no makers or other marks to the blade. The scabbard is the standard black type. See German clamshells and other bayonets by Gary. L. British India Pattern 1859 Socket Bayonet & Scabbard. - BAYO 666
British India Pattern 1859 Socket Bayonet & Scabbard. This is an India pattern 1859 socket bayonet which is often confused with the British 1853. Except for the larger muzzle ring diameter (M.R.D) of larger 20.4mm to fit the larger profile barrel of the India 1859 musket. It is 20.5” in overall length with a blade length of 17 Ό “ and a socket length of 3”. The blade is marked with an inspection stamp and other un-deciphered letters. There is a ‘W’ in a square on the elbow and a ‘P’ on the locking ring. The scabbard is brass mounted leather. See Skennerton item 130, pages 330 & 331. BAYO 666

WW1 Imperial German Ersatz Bayonet. - BAYO 665
This is a nice M99/98 all steel Ersatz bayonet similar to No335 in White & Watts, the bayonet book. It is nearly 16 Ύ “overall with a fullered blade length of 12”. The stepped muzzle ring is open at the top of the steel hilt has an oil drain hole behind the cross guard. Unfortunately there is no scabbard as is often the case with Ersatz bayonets. A nice example of an Ersatz bayonet. BAYO 665
