British Volunteer Bayonet With Sawback Removed. BAYO 254 - BAYO 254
This is a scarce bayonet which started life as a Volunteer sawback bayonet based on the pattern 1875 sword bayonet but has a heavier crossguard and a larger muzzle ring diameter. The bayonet was made by the Solingen trade for use by various colonial governments. The blade is marked with the trademark of Alex Coppel and has had the sawback removed. These bayonets were not necessarily intended for the Martini Henry rifle which explains the different muzzle ring diameter of many of these volunteer patterns. The muzzle ring diameter is 20.2mm . The blade length is 18 ¼ inches with an overall length of 23 ¾ inches. See Skinnerton Item B189 and B190 pages 147 – 150. The price includes U.K. delivery. BAYO 254
