British Land Pattern Socket Bayonet. Sn 12917 - 12917
This is similar to the example in Skennerton's, item B49. It has a slightly longer slot than the usual Land Pattern and could fit some sea service models with a foresight closer to the muzzle. However the blade is only 16" long, which Skennerton suggests could denote Indian Service. (see Skennerton's, page 40, Items B49 & B50). This is a socket bayonet worthy of further research.
