SOLD SOLD (25/03) WW1/WW2 Imperial German Army Taschenmesser Trench Dagger/ Utility Clasp Lock knife By Mercator, DRGM Marked. Sn 9770 - 9770
Taschenmesser Clasp Lock knives were popular amongst Imperial German troops during WW1 due to their locking blade and which allowed them to used as a fighting knife and the folding utility tools. Many saw service throughout both World Wars. (see page 33 item 123 of Stephen's book 'Fighting Knives'. This example is in excellent original condition. The knife is blackened throughout and it's 4" single edged blade locks in place securely. The thumb operated locking bar works perfectly. The ricasso of the blade is crisply marked by the manufacturer 'MERCATOR' and the reverse crisply marked 'Solingen'. The 2 additional folding tools (illustrated) fold securely into the steel handle. Post 1900, Large Folding Pen Knife With German Silver & Mother Of Pearl Scales Engraved With Cyrillic/ Hebrew Script By Walker & Hall Sheffield. Sn 10789 - 10789
The Sheffield based Cutler George Walker is recorded as operating as a 'knife forger' in 1845. In 1853 the firm was joined by Henry Hall of Worcester and became 'Walker & Hall' based at the Elecro Works in Howard Street, Sheffield. Walker & Hall are believed to have been the biggest employer in the cutlery trade prior to WW1 (see page 284 of The Sheffield Knife Book by Tweedale). This is an excellent folding pen knife by Walker and Hall made post 1900. It has a clean 4 1/2" single edged folding blade and measures 9 3/4" when open. The blade is marked by the manufacturer 'Walker & Hall Sheffield'. It has German Silver scales inset with attractive undamaged Mother Of Pearl sections which are engraved on one side with Cyrillic/ Hebrew Script which is worthy of further research. Currently Unavailable Late 1800's- Early 1900's, Malayan Native Dagger With Ornate Antique Ivory Or Bone Handle With Hand Forged Acid Wash Blade & Brass Mounted Hardwood Scabbard. Sn 10680 - 10680
The kris is a type of dagger, often with a pistol-gripped shaped handle. Traditionally worn as a status symbol and carried by warriors. The kris is characterised by its distinctive wavy blade. The blade is given its characteristic shape by folding different types of metal together and then washing it in acid. Kris were said to be infused with venom during their forging but the method of doing this was a closely guarded secret among blacksmiths. This is an excellent Malayan Kris most likely made in the late 1800's -Early 1900's. It has a beautiful 15 1/2" long acid washed, hand forged Kris blade which incorporates it's ornate barbed design. The handle is beautifully hand crafted from antique Ivory or Bone and has a decorative ferrule. The dagger measures 19 3/4" overall and is complete with it's original hardwood scabbard. KA-BAR is the contemporary popular name for the combat knife first adopted by the United States Marine Corps (USMC) in November 1942 during WW2. This is an excellent Post war original Israeli Military example of the Kabar Pattern knife complete with leather sheath. The knife has a 7" steel clip point blade and compressed leather-washer handle. The ricasso is crisply marked with an Israeli State Star. It is complete with original leather sheath which has a retaining strap with press stud fastener and large belt loop. All leather and stitching of the sheath are intact. Price includes UK delivery. An excellent WW2 US Camillus M3 Fighting Knife & Un issued condition M8 Scabbard With Integral Frog By BM Co. The blade is stamped "US M3 Camillus". The compressed leather ringed handle and blade are undamaged. The top of the pommel has the 'ignited grenade' Frankford Arsenal mark. The pommel is double pinned. The knife is complete with original green plastic M8 scabbard with integral green webbing frog which has a single retaining strap and press stud fastener. The upper mount of the scabbard is stamped 'USM8' & by the manufacturer 'BM Co'. The scabbard is fitted with it's original leather thigh cord which has never been uncoiled. Spanish Special Operations Unit, Green Berets, Close Quarter Combat & Survival Bolo Knife With Sawback & Scabbard. ED 2233 - ED 2233
During the 1970s this 'survival' bolo was issued to the Spanish Special Operations Unit the ' Cuerpo de Operaciones Especiales' their Green Berets ( see item 209 in Hughes and Jenkins 'A Primer of Military Knives Part Two'). It is 10 inches overall with a distictive 5 1/2 inch Bolo blade with a saw back. The grips are finely chequered secured by two steel screw bolts. The pommel, tang and long curved cross guard are of one piece steel construction. The blade has the National Toledo Armaments Factory emblem etched into it ( illustrated) The cross guard has ' V379' and 'U'. It comes with its original steel mounted leather scabbard which is also in good order. The stitching is intact as is the retaining strap and stud. This is a very nice example of a rare dagger in the UK. The price includes UK delivery. ED 2233

A Very Early Scouting Bowie Knife & Leather Scabbard by Gillwell, made by Maleham & Yeomans, Sheffield ED 2197 - ED 2197
A very early Scouting Knife by Gillwell and dark brown leather scabbard made by Maleham & Yeomans, Sheffield. Maleham & Yeomans first made it's appearance in the Sheffield directories in 1876, with its advertisement for its steel, tool and 'Superior Table Cutlery', which it manufactured at the works in Burgess Street, Sheffield. By the end of the 1870's Maleham & Yeomans had moved to 49 Bowdon Street, Sheffield. It was by this time concentrating on fine quality pocket cutlery, razors, smokers knives and sports knives. This knife is a very fine quality bowie knife with dark wooden smooth grips nicely secured with a brass rivet. The alloy pommel is shaped and weighted to give a very nice balance to the knife. The blade is polished steel and measures 4", it has a ribbed back edge, a false edge and is stamped on the tang with "Maleham & Yeoman Sheffield England. On the opposite side it is stamped with the manufacturers mark, a Maltese Cross and other symbols. On one side of the blade is etched "Gillwell". The scabbard is dark brown leather, and is moulded to fit the knife perfectly and snugly, the scabbard has a frog riveted to it and has a slotted belt loop. The scabbard is in very nice condition and retains all of it's stitching. The price includes UK delivery.

Victorian Argentinian Large Gaucho Boot Dagger By La Movadina & Sheath. ED 2081. - ED 2081
This is an attractive Victorian boot dagger used by South American Gaucho's carried as a fighting weapon for self defence & for use while herding cattle. As is common with these knives it is ornately decorated. The dagger has a broad single edged dagger blade tapering to a sharp point. The blade measures 7 1/2" and is 12 1/2" overall. The blade is stamped ' La Movadina Industria Argentina' (Spanish: The Movadina Industry Argentina). It's white metal handle is ornately decorated with a foliate design and marked 'Industria Argentina' (Made in Argentina). The dagger is complete with decoratively tooled leather scabbard with large chape and upper mount with boot/ belt hook. Both the chape and upper mount are highly decorated with a matching foliate design. The boot hook is also stamped 'Industria Argentina'. Price includes UK delivery. ED 2081.
