**RARE**NAPOLEONIC WARS ERA**French 1808 Dated Model 1807 Tulle Arsenal Naval Flintlock .69” Calibre Pistol With Regulation Brass Fittings, Belt Bar & Iron Ram Rod. Sn 23833 - 23833 A scarce French Model 1807 military flintlock Naval officer's pistol manufactured at the Imperial Tulle Military arsenal dated 1808 from the time of the Napoleonic Wars (C1790-1815). It has a rounded brass military skull-crusher cudgel butt-cap, matching brass military style trigger-guard, fore-end block and side-plate. The action is in excellent working order & is complete with its original iron ramrod. This type of heavy calibre flintlock pistol were carried by French Naval officers during the era of the Napoleonic campaigns of the late 18th-early 19th century. The pistol has its all original Walnut stock with regulation brass fittings. The wood and brass have several inspection marks including 1808 dated ‘EF’ (Empire Francais) roundel. The wood is all original with just light bumps and bruises to be expected. The lock plate is signed with ‘Tulle Arsenal’ detail and inspection marks. It has a brass pan and heavy military cock fitted with flint. The 8” un-sighted barrel in the white has inspection marks and has model detail ‘1807’. It measures 14 ¾” overall. The pistol’s smooth bore has just light staining consistent with age and service use. The pistol cocks & dry fires crisply. This is a fine example of this model of pistol, substantial and well made. East India Company .75” Musket Bore Flintlock Musket. Sn 23834 - 23834 This is an early East India Company flintlock musket fitted with a ring necked cock. The gun measures 55 inches in length with a 39 inch round steel barrel with a block foresight doubling as a bayonet lug. The original flintlock lock plate is retained by a flat brass side plate together with 2 steel screws. The lockplate is stamped with the EIC rampant lion and an inspection mark of a crown over 3. The barrel has a nice smooth patina finish and is stamped with three marks, a viewing mark, an East India mark, a final proof mark and 1. The gun has an original stock which is in good condition ad has three brass ramrod pipes retaining an original flat headed iron ramrod. The musket has a brass furniture including a flat side plate retained by a screw which is stamped RTM 85, trigger guard, butt plate and nose cap. The metal work has nice smooth even patina throughout and the barrel has staining and residue consistent with age and use. the mucket retains its original oron sling swivels. SOLD SOLD (LAY-AWAY 05/11) *QUALITY*1816-1821 J. Richard Evans London Retailed 12 Bore Percussion Blunderbuss Coaching Pistol With Brass Cannon Barrel & Folding Bayonet. Sn 23826 - 23826 J. Richard Evans also recorded as Evens and Ivans owned a wholesale shooting tackle and gun warehouse at 48 Cannon Street London between 1816 & 1821 (see page 157 of Brown's book British Gunmakers Vol.1). This is a quality made blunderbuss percussion Pistol With Brass Cannon Barrel & Folding Bayonet retailed by J.Richard Evans. These types of pistol were favoured by Coach drivers to defend against Highwaymen attack. It is 13 ½” overall with bayonet closed and has a 7 ¼” brass cannon barrel. The barrel’s smooth bore has just light staining consistent with age and use. It has its original undamaged walnut stock inlaid with void brass shield escutcheon & brass fittings including trigger guard with Pineapple finial & ram rod flutes. The Dolphin hammer and action have light foliate engraved decoration. The pistol’s cocking and firing actions work crisply. The action is signed ‘J.R Evans’. The barrel has crisp black powder proofs. The top of the barrel at the muzzle is fitted with a 5 ¼” triangular folding bayonet. The tip of the bayonet is released from the top of the action by pulling a securing lug backward the bayonet then springs forward and is secured to lug on top of the barrel at the muzzle by a locking catch. The bayonet is released for folding back into closed position by a steel press button on the bayonet. The pistol is complete with ebonised wood ram rod which has a brass end cap. Cased C1840 English Form 6 Shot 96 Bore (.32 Calibre) Double Action Percussion Bar Hammer Pepperbox Bar Hammer Revolver With Many Period Accessories. Sn 23776 - 23776 A very good pepperbox bar hammer revolver made circa 1840 in its associated fitted case with accessories. The revolver measures 8" overall and the barrel cluster is 3” length. The steel frame and trigger guard are engraved with a foliate decoration. The grip frame and bar hammer also have engraved decoration. There are no external manufacturer's marks on the pistol. The barrel cluster has English black powder proofs. The revolver has an undamaged walnut grip. The barrel’s bores are clean. It's cocking and firing actions work crisply. The case with hinged lid has a lock (key absent). The inside of the case is fitted and lined with green felt to hold the pistol and its accessories which consist of 2 screwdriver tools, a copper and brass powder black powder flask (no maker marks), a wood handled brass powder measure, a good quantity of moulded lead balls and a blackened steel ball mould, stamped ‘96’ (bore). Martini Henry Mark IVa, 1887 Dated .577x .450 Obsolete Centre Fire Calibre Service Rifle & Leather Sling. Sn 23791 - 23791 This is an original,.577x .450 Martini Henry, Mark IVa service pattern a rifle with the short nocksform which is stamped F and an asterisk on top of the breach. This mark IVa rifles were converted at Enfield from the .402 Martini Enfield cartridge trials rifle to the .450 Martini Henry rifle. The action is stamped on the right hand side VR (Victoria Regina) Enfield ordnance stamped to the breech, barrel and metalwork and is fitted with its original woodwork throughout. The stock is an original .402 Martini trials rifle stock which originally had the short extractor lever. The hole for retaining the lever was blanked off and a new hole for the extractor lever inletted into the stock as part of the conversion. The barrel on this rifle with the short knocksform were bored out to .450 from the cancelled Martini Enfield .402 contract and assembled as the mark IVa Martini Henry rifle. The rifle measures 49 inches in length with a 33 ¼ inch steel barrel with a clean and crisp rifling. The rifle has a block and blade fore sight, flip up ladder rear sight, steel butt plate and sling swivels. The barrel retains most of its original blued finish. The wood furniture is in excellent condition with just minor bumps to be expected with age and service use. the rifle is fitted with a leather sling. Following service with the British Arm adopted the .303 Lee Metford rifle, the Nepalese government being unable to re arm quickly, quantities of surplus British Martini Henry rifles were sent to arm the Gurkhas in 1894 including further batches sent between 1906 and 1909. This rifle is one of those guns. The right hand side of the butt is stamped with the British roundel, IV & class I stamps underneath and carries Nepalese stamps indicating that this rifle was supplied to India and was one of the batchs of Martini Henry rifles transferred. The rifle is neatly stamped to the left hand side of the rear sight NS NEP Native Scouts, Nepal. Mark IVa Martini Henry models are described in detail in the following books in see Section D, Martini arms, RB 99 on page 19, Catalogue of the Enfield Pattern Room, British Rifles, published by Her Majesty’s Stationary Office and pages 159 & 230 including the plates in The Martini-Henry for Queen and Empire by Neil Aspinshaw pages 150 – 154 and pages 359 to 367 in A Treatise on the British Military Martini, The .40 & .303 Martinis 1880 – c1920. The rifle is complete with its correct mark IV cleaning rod, and an inert Martini Henry round. The cocking and firing actions work crisply. The price includes UK delivery. SOLD SOLD (28/10) c1830 English 40 Bore, Brass Action Percussion Traveling Pocket Pistol with a Turn Off Barrel. A 1119 - A 1119 This is an English, Birmingham proofed brass actioned percussion traveling pocket pistol. The pistol measures 6¼ inches overall with a 2 inch octagonal screw off barrel. The barrel has a smooth bore with minor staining & residue consistent with age and use. The barrel and underside of the action bear Birmingham proof house stamps. The brass action is decorated with ornate foliate engraving on both sides. The metal work has even aged patina. Its original bag shaped walnut chequered wooden grip is in excellent condition with a geman silver escutcheon and is undamaged. The steel trigger guard is decorated with worn engraving. The weapon cocks and dry fires crisply. The price includes UK delivery.
