**QUALITY MAKER**English C1800 Henry Nock London 54 Bore Flintlock Pocket Pistol With Safety Bolt & Screw Off Barrel. A 1125 - A 1125 Henry Nock was a British inventor and engineer of the Napoleonic period, best known as a gunsmith. As well as supplying the military and civilian markets, Nock made expensive pieces for the aristocracy and Royalty and was an appointed gunmaker to the King. Nock's business eventually became Wilkinson Sword. This is an excellent flintlock pocket pistol by Henry Nock London. The pistol’s action is beautifully engraved with Martial Arms and Banner designs. It has a steel cock fitted with flint & sliding safety bolt which works correctly. One side of the pistol is signed by the manufacturer 'H. Nock' and the reverse 'London'. The pistol measures 6” overall & has a just over 1 ½” turn off barrel (a tool is required to remove the barrel, we do not have the tool). The barrel’s smooth bore is clean. The underside of the action has black powder proof marks. The pistol has an undamaged bag shaped Walnut grip. The metal work has excellent original blue finish. Liege Belgium ‘MJ’ Michel Jamar ‘The Guardian Model Of 1878’ 7mm Pinfire Obsolete Calibre 5 Shot Revolver With Folding Trigger & Captive Ejector Rod. A 1123 - A 1123 Michel Jamar, arms manufacturer in Liege, boulevard of Avroy, 16 then street Saint Jean, 26. From 1888 to 1892, he deposited 7 patents for inventions and in particular for revolvers. This is a 5 shot 7mm double action pinfire revolver made by Michel Jamar Liege. It has a 3” octagonal barrel. The barrel’s rifled bore is clean. The metal work has proof / inspection marks and the side gate has the maker’s initials ‘MJ’. The cylinder is engraved with banner ‘The Guardian Model Of 1878’. The metal work has even patina. And panels of engraved foliate decoration. It has a captive ejector rod, folding trigger and undamaged ebony grips. It has a post fore sight. **RARE**SMITH SIGNED**Edo Period 1600-1800 Japanese Samurai 38 Bore Heavy Tanegashima Castle Siege Matchlock Musket With Smith Signed Barrel ‘SHIBATA TSUJI MINAMOTO TARO’. Sn 22072 - 22072 Tanegashima, was a type of matchlock-configured arquebus firearm introduced to Japan through the Portuguese Empire in 1543. It was used by the samurai class and their ashigaru "foot soldiers", and within a few years its introduction in battle changed the way war was fought in Japan forever. Heavy versions were used on turrets and walls of castles during sieges to repel attacks. This Japanese Samurai matchlock made sometime in the Edo period is one of those heavy castle siege guns. It has a fully functioning action. It has a 41” long octagonal heavy barrel which is 38 Bore. The smooth bore has staining & residue consistent with age & use. The gun has been examined by Japanese sword expert Bill Tagg who has identified and translated a smith’s signature on the underside of the barrel, a copy of his translation notes accompany the gun. In his notes he translates the smith’s signature as ‘SHIBATA TSUJI MINAMOTO TARO’ and describes it as being made in the Edo period 1600-1800. The matchlock has a triangular iron block fore sight and grooved brass block rear sight. It measures 52 ½” overall length. It has wood stock with brass fittings and brass flower inlays. The fore stock is holed for ram rod which is absent. The wood has knocks bumps and bruises to be expected with age & use. One side of the stock above the trigger area has some impressions where brass flower inlays may have been present but are now absent and indentations most likely knocks received during castle wall or turret service. It has a brass ball trigger and brass trigger guard on the underside of the stock. The 'quick match' arm moves as does the hinged brass pan cover. It was used by the samurai class and their ashigaru "foot soldiers", and within a few years its introduction in battle changed the way war was fought in Japan forever. This Japanese Samurai matchlock made sometime in the Edo period has a fully functioning action. It has a 39 ¼”long octagonal barrel which is 36 Bore. The smooth bore has staining & residue consistent with age & use. The gun has been examined by Japanese sword expert Bill Tagg who has identified and translated a smith’s signature on the underside of the barrel, a copy of his translation notes accompany the gun. In his notes he translates the signature as ‘GOSHU (province) KUNI (town) TOMO TO (gunmaker’s group Edo Period) HEI BEI (well known maker’s name) DO MAKI (wrap around barrel like Damascus). English, Manton, 16 bore Single Barrel Percussion Shotgun Converted by Drum & Nipple from a Flintlock Mechanism. Sn - 22000 This is a 16 bore percussion shotgun by the famous maker Manton. The Manton family were makers of quality guns from 1780 to 1826 when they were declared bankrupt. The gun retains the original lockplate which is stamped MANTON and is nicely engraved in the Manton style The shotgun was originally made as a flintlock and was later converted to the percussion by fitting a drum and nipple to the barrel and removing the frizzen and pan from the original lockplate. The flint cock was replaced by a percussion hammer. The gun has a 32 ½ inch damascus barrel with an overall length of 48 inches. The finely figured damascus barrel is of the Spanish form and carries Birmingham proof marks. The one piece finely figured walnut stock has a chequered wrist with iron furniture and a black horn tip. the trigger guards has a finger rest and a pineapple at the front. The lockplate, breech strap the trigger guard and butt tang have been finely engraved in the past. The barrel has two ramrod pipes and a steel ramrod. The bore is clean with the usual staining and residue with use. The stock has the normal bumps and bruises with normal use. The weapon cocks & dry fires as it should. Price includes UK delivery. NB. **SUPERB**MINT BORES**Cased C1820’s Matching Pair Of English John Probin London Maker To The Prince Of Wales 22 Bore Gentleman’s Flintlock Dueling / Target Pistols, With Octagonal Damascus Steel Barrels. Sn 22059:7 - 22059:7 John Probin (b.1785) was an English London based gunmaker recorded as having premises at 29 Lisle street, Leicester Square 1826-41, 70 Strand 1842, 11 Agar Street Strand 1843-46, 115 St Martins Lane 1847-51. He was gunmaker to the Prince Of Wales (see page 194 of British Gunmakers Vol.1 by Brown). This is a superb pair of matching English dueling pistols by John Probin. The pistols are in fine condition undamaged and all original with 9 ½” octagonal Damascus steel barrels & undamaged original walnut full stocks. Each barrel is signed by the maker ‘Probin Maker to His RH The Prince Of Wales’’. The smooth bores are near mint clean & bright. The actions both have ‘v’ notch plate rear sights and the barrels have brass blade fore sights. Both pistols have Swan neck hammers fitted with flints & safety bolts. The metal work is clean and undamaged. Each lock plate is signed ‘J.Probin’. The trigger guards have engraved decoration & Pineapple finials. The breech of each pistol have gold roundel inserts. The pistol's cocking & firing actions work crisply. Both pistols have their original wood ram rods with polished horn end caps and steel worm tips. The pistols are contained in their later wood case. The case with hinged lid is lined with felt and has compartments to fit the pistols and accessories (there are no accessories with these pistols).
