C1854-1860’s British London Made Brunswick Pattern Volunteer / Militia .577 Calibre Muzzle Loading Percussion Rifle With Patchbox. Sn 21593 - 21593 The Brunswick rifle was a large calibre muzzle-loading percussion rifle manufactured for the British Army by Enfield in the early 19th century. The Brunswick rifle was one of several designs submitted to replace the Baker rifle. Unlike the Baker rifle, the Brunswick rifle used a special round ball with raised ribs that fit into two spiralling grooves in the barrel. The rifle was designed to accept a sword type bayonet which mounted by use of a bayonet bar, similar to the design of that used on the Baker rifle. The bayonet bar was relocated further back due to problems that had been experienced with the Baker rifle. The Brunswick rifle used a block front sight and a two position folding leaf rear sight which although ungraduated were set for either 200 or 300 yards. In 1854 as a result of introduction of the Minie rifle musket, Brunswicks were issued to militia Regiments and remained in service with them into the 1860’s (see page 64 plate 58 and page 65 of British Military Longarms by Bailey). This is a Brunswick type Volunteer / Militia rifle. The usual calibre of a Brunswick rifle is .704 calibre our variant is .577 calibre. The action plate is stamped ‘London’. It has all original woodwork with brass butt plate, trigger guard, fore end block, ram rod mounts and Brunswick type patch box with hinged lid which has the correct 2 compartments, original steel ramrod & Brunswick pattern bayonet bar with notch. It has a block & blade fore sight and Brunswick type leaf rear sights. The wood has knocks bumps and bruises consistent with age and service use. The wood is impressed with what looks like number ‘8’ or reverse letter ‘B’ above ‘25’. The plain steel barrel has no visible external proofs and measures 30” in length. The rifle measures 46 ¼” overall. The rifled bore has staining and residue consistent with age & service use. The cocking and firing actions work crisply. The price includes UK delivery. Tower, Enfield Indian Pattern 1858 Percussion Musket. Sn - 21977:8 This is nice Jaipur Arsenal marked Tower, Enfield Pattern 1858 Indian percussion musket. This was the first pattern smoothbore Indian pattern musket after the mutiny. These muskets were made for the Indian army after the Indian Mutiny where Indian soldiers were only given smooth bore weapons. The musket has a barrel length of 39 inches with an overall length of 54 inches. The lockplate is stamped TOWER with the Queens crown and 1860. The barrel is retained by 3 Baddley bands and has a nice smooth finish. The musket is fitted with a v notch rear sight, a Enfield type blade foresight, sling swivels and a leather sling. The barrel has Jaipur Arsenal marks stamped to the right hand side JPR/EXR/2119 and has a brass chained nipple protector. The musket has a smooth bore with a diameter of .606 inches and has staining and residue due to age and service. The musket has a walnut stock with nice smooth woodwork with minor bumps and bruises due to service life and is stamped on the right hand side with a roundel and 7 with two dashes under it. The musket has brass furniture with the correct brass riveted on fore end cap. 1871 British London Small Arms Company Volunteer Officer’s Privately Commissioned Snider Conversion 3 Band .577 Obsolete Calibre 3 Band Snider Patent Rifle With Chained Nipple Protector, Sling & 1 x Inert Deactivated Round. Sn 21977:4 - 21977:4 This is a British Volunteer Officer’s Privately Commissioned Snider conversion 3 Band .577 Obsolete Calibre 3 Band Snider Patent Rifle. The action plate is stamped by the manufacturer ‘LSA Co’ (London Small Arms Company) dated 1871 and has the company’s combined ‘LSAC’ trademark. It has all original wood work in very good condition. It has none regulation brass fittings. It has sling swivels fitted with leather sling, iron cleaning rod, ladder rear sight and block with blade fore sight. The barrel’s bore has just light staining consistent with age and has well defined rifling. The barrel and action have proof / inspection marks. The Total length is 55” with a 36” barrel. The breech has the correct hinged cover with knurled locking catch. The breech is marked with faint ‘Sniders Patent’ mark. The barrel tang and trigger guard have foliate engraved decoration. The stock wrist has an inlaid void brass disc and the shoulder stock is impressed with number ‘39’. The action is fitted with link chained nipple protector. The cocking & firing actions work crisply. British WD MK III Snider 2 Band .577 Obsolete Calibre Short Rifle Converted By BSA Co From 1860 Enfield Pattern 1853 Rifle With Chained Nipple Protector, Sling & 1 x Inert Deactivated Round. Sn 21977:3 - 21977:3 This is a Mark III British WD breech loading snider rifle converted from muzzle loading 1853 pattern rifle. The action plate is stamped by the manufacturer ‘Enfield’ dated 1860 and inspection marks together with Crown VR (Victoria Regina). It has all original wood work in excellent condition. It has the correct steel fittings. It has bayonet bar, sling swivels fitted with leather sling, iron cleaning rod, ladder rear sight and block with blade fore sight. The barrel’s bore is clean and has well defined rifling. The barrel is stamped ‘steel’ and has WD inspection proof marks. The Total length is 49” with a 30” barrel. **MASSIVE**ORNATE**C1790 Indian North West Frontier Match Lock 22 Bore Musket Wrapped With Mother Of Pearl Plates & Ram Rod. A 1120 / 21897 - A 1120 / 21897 The matchlock was the first mechanism, or "lock" invented to facilitate the firing of a hand-held firearm. This design removed the need to lower by hand a lit match into the weapon's flash pan and made it possible to have both hands free to keep a firm grip on the weapon at the moment of firing and more importantly, to keep both eyes on the target. These weapons were prized by Native Warriors, and heavily personalised with ornate decoration. This is a C1790 Indian matchlock musket as used against British troops on the North West Frontier. It has a 45 ¼” long barrel with flared muzzle (approx. 22 bore) and measures a massive 5’ 5 ¼” overall length. The barrel has a ‘v’ notch block rear sight. The bore has typical heavy residue and staining consistent with age & use. It has a wood stock fully wrapped with hand crafted plates of Mother Of Pearl. The barrel has white metal wire barrel bands and typical wood block butt. It has a metal bar press trigger on the underside of the stock which correctly moves the 'match holder' arm to the metal powder pan and it has its iron ram rod. The metal has even patina to be expected of a native Indian weapon of its age. The barrel is numbered ‘96’ and the underside of the stock has later hand applied ink numbers ‘1016’ most likely an armoury number. As an antique matchlock musket no licence is required to own this item in the UK if retained as part of a collection or display. **Napoleonic Battle Of Trafalgar Era**Georgian, English Board Of Ordnance Marked Enfield Tower, Long Sea Service .577” Regulation Calibre, Flintlock Pistol With Belt Bar & Regulation Brass Fittings Including Cudgel Butt. Sn 21807 - 21807 During the 18th century the British Royal Navy began standardising their Naval small arms. One such weapon was the Sea Service flintlock pistol. These weapons were used by the British Royal Navy throughout the Wars with neighbouring France 1750- 1815 and saw service at the famous Naval Battle of Trafalgar 21st October 1805. This original Georgian, Tower, Long Sea Service Pistol is in excellent condition. It is 19 ½” long with a 12” smooth bore barrel which is Regulation .577" calibre. The barrel’s bore has staining & residue consistent with age and use. The barrel is crisply stamped with English black powder proof marks. The all original full wood stock has just light bumps and bruises to be expected with age. The stock has an iron belt bar which has a small ‘Crown’ inspection mark. It has regulation brass furniture including cudgel butt. The pistol has its original wood ram rod with brass end cap. The lock is crisply marked 'Tower' (Enfield) & ‘Crown GR’ (George Rex) together with small ordnance ‘Crown Arrow’ mark. All metal work is excellent and undamaged. The cock is fitted with flint.
