**QUALITY FITTINGS**1773-1823 English Barber Newark Flintlock .577 Regulation Calibre Target / Traveling Pistol With Octagonal Barrel & Ram Rod. Sn 21393:17 - 21393:17 Isaac Barber was an English Nottinghamshire based gun smith recorded at Market Place, Newark 1773-1823 (see page 164 of Brown’s book British Gunmakers Vol.2). This is an excellent Flintlock Pistol by Barber Newark. It is 14 ¼” overall with a 9” octagonal steel sighted barrel. The barrels’ smooth bore has just light staining consistent with age and use and has black powder proofs. The top barrel flat is faintly signed ‘Barber Newark’. It has a flat stepped lock with cock. The lock plate is crisply signed ‘Barber’ (most likely Isaac). It has a walnut full stock with plain rounded butt. It's has fancy steel fittings including trigger guard with extended tang, clamshell on the trigger guard and Pineapple finial. It is complete with original ebonised wood ramrod with polished horn end cap and steel worm. It's action works crisply. The price includes UK delivery. C1800 British Richards Flintlock .650 Carbine Calibre Holster Pistol With Captive Iron Ram Rod. Sn 21393:16 - 21393:16 This is a very good Flintlock Holster Pistol made C1800. It is 14" overall with an 8 ¾” round steel barrel. The barrels’ smooth bore has just light staining consistent with age and use and has English black powder proofs. It has a flat stepped lock with cock fitted with flint. The lock plate is crisply signed ‘Richards’ (there were several gunmakers working in both London and the Provinces during the flintlock era). It has a walnut full stock with plain rounded butt. It's has brass fittings including trigger guard with extended tang and ram rod flute. It is complete with original captive iron ram rod. British Naval Officer’s Private Purchase R. Watkins (London C1710-1740) Long Sea Service Pattern .577” Regulation Calibre, Flintlock Pistol With Belt Bar & Brass Fittings Including Cudgel Butt. Sn 21393:15 - 21393:15 During the 18th century the British Royal Navy began standardising their Naval small arms. One such weapon was the Sea Service flintlock pistol. These weapons were used by the British Royal Navy throughout the Wars with neighbouring France 1750- 1815 and saw service at the famous Naval Battle of Trafalgar 21st October 1805. This original British Naval Officer’s Private Purchase Long Sea Service Pistol is in excellent condition. It is 20 ¼” long with a 12 ¾” smooth bore barrel which is Regulation .577" calibre. The barrel’s bore has staining & residue consistent with age & use. The barrel is crisply stamped with black powder proof marks. The lock plate is signed ‘R. Watkins’ (recorded as working in London C1710-1740, a maker of flintlock pistols and muskets, see page 104 of English, Irish & Scottish Firearms Makers by Carey). The all original full wood stock has just light bumps and bruises to be expected with age. It has regulation type brass furniture including cudgel butt. The pistol has its original wood ram rod with brass end cap. The lock functions crisply. British East India Company Pattern F Percussion .750 Musket Calibre Muzzle Loading Percussion Infantry Musket. Sn - 21393:12 This is a British East India Company Pattern F percussion .75” infantry musket. The musket has a 39 inch smoothbored barrel with London proof marks. The barrel is clean and has staining consistent with use. The musket has all original woodwork with the correct Brunswick pattern scroll trigger guard, three rammer pipes, the unique pattern E.I.C. spring bayonet catch protruding through the nose-cap. The musket is complete with the correct and original E.I.C. pattern ramrod. The lockplate is stamped with EIC’s Rampant Lion trademark with a double line border. The musket measures 55 inches in length with a 39 inch barrel the bore having just light staining consistent with age. The F type musket was produced between 1845 and 1851. The cocking and firing actions work crisply. Muskets such as this saw service and action in many Indian campaigns from 1845 including the 2nd Sikh War, and the Great Indian Mutiny it was used by both sides. Many of these muskets were returned to this country from the Nepal Royal Armoury. During the Mutiny Nepal sent a contingent in support of the British on arrival in India they were armed with muskets such as this and upon return to Nepal together with Indian Mutineers who were disarmed and the weapons kept by the Nepal authorities for issue to its forces. This musket bears Nepalese regimental stampings under the trigger guard and on the top of the butt plate showing re issue to Nepalese troops. See pages 32 - 36 & 123 - 128 including the plates in Guns of the Gurkhas, (The lost arsenal: pistols, rifles and machine guns of the Royal Nepalese Army, 1816 – 1945) by John Walter. English, C1840 Thomas Conway Manchester .500 Calibre Percussion Target / Dueling Pistol With Damascus Steel Octagonal Barrel & German Silver Mounts. Sn 21393:9 - 21393:9 Thomas Conway was an English Gunsmith with premises in Manchester at 179 Chapel Street, 3 Market Street & 43 Blackfriars Street, Deansgate between 1803-1852. This is an excellent original percussion target or Dueling pistol by Conway Manchester. Its octagonal Damascus steel barrel is 9 ½” length (15 ¾” overall). The barrel has a gold band inlaid at the breech and the barrel is sighted. The smooth bore of the barrel has staining and residue consistent with age and use. The pistol has its original ebonised wood ram rod with polished horn end cap and brass tip which unscrews to reveal a worm. Its action plate, trigger guard with extended tang and acanthus bud finial and Dolphin hammer are nicely engraved with a foliate decoration. The action plate is signed by the manufacturer 'Conway’ & the top barrel flat ‘Manchester’. The pistol has its original undamaged walnut stock with chequered panel grip, German silver stock mounts and Inlaid void German Silver escutcheon. The pistol cocks and dry fires crisply. C1870 Clamshell Hard Cased Belgian Liege 9mm Pin Fire Obsolete Calibre 6 Shot Double Action Only Revolver With Ornate Tooled Decoration, Folding Trigger, Captive Swivel Extractor Rod. Sn 21393:4 - 21393:4 This is an attractive 6 shot 9mm pin fire revolver made C1870. It measures 7 ½” overall with a 3 ¼” two stage barrel. The barrel’s rifled bore has staining & reidue consistent with age and use. The metal work in the white has attractive deep cut tooled foliate decoration & typical folding trigger. Its original chequered panel gutta percha hard rubber grips are excellent. The pistol is stamped with Liege ‘crown N’ & ‘P’ marks. The cylinder is numbered ‘67’. The pistol is side gate loading & has a captive swivel ejector rod. The pistol is correctly double action only and its firing mechanism works as it should. The pistol is accompanied by its original leather covered wood pistol shaped clamshell type hard case with clasp fastener. The case is lined and padded with rich purple material. The liner has just wear to be expected & the leather has some light scuffing to be expected. The case fits the pistol perfectly. The price includes UK delivery.
