**RARE** British WD, 1859 Dated, 5 Groove, Enfield Tower Snider MK III .577 Calibre Cavalry Carbine With Chained Nipple Protector & Original 2 Piece Steel Cleaning Rod. Sn 21150 - 21150 This is an original British .577 Snider MK III Cavalry Carbine. The Snider action was introduced to British service in 1866 and muzzle loading Enfield Carbines were converted to allow the use of the .577 calibre brass cartridge. They remained in use until the Martini Henry was introduced. This carbine made in 1859 has a 19 ¼” barrel (37 ½” overall). The 5 groove barrels bore has just light staining consistent with age and well defined rifling. It has a brass butt plate with trap and brass trigger guard. The trap contains its rare to find original period 2 piece screw together steel cleaning rod. The woodwork is undamaged with just bumps and bruises to be expected. The action plate is marked with the Victoria Crown 'V.R' (Victoria Regina), dated 1859 and has the 'Tower' (Enfield) manufacturer's stamp together with ordnance inspection mark. The top of the breech is stamped 'III' model designation. The hinged breech cover also has WD inspection marks and the correct knurled steel breech release catch. The carbine has a fixed foresight, adjustable ladder rear sight and it is fitted with nipple protector with brass link chain. The action is crisp. The price includes UK delivery. 1888 Dated WW1 Era Imperial German Army Spandau Model 1871/84 11.15 x 60R Obsolete Calibre Tube Magazine Bolt Action. Sn 21122 - 21122 The 11.15x60R calibre Mauser Model 1871/84 Rifle with tube magazine was adopted as the Infanterie-Gewehr 71/84. The rifle was designed and manufactured by Paul Mauser and Wilhelm Mauser of the Mauser company. The rifles were issued to Infantry Regiments. This is an original example of the Mauser M1871/84. Its woodwork is all original & has the knocks bumps and bruises to be expected with age and service use. The metalwork is undamaged with even aged patina. The barrel’s bore is clean with well defined rifling. The breech is faintly marked 'Spandau' with Crown and Imperial proof/ inspection marks, model designation and 1888 date. The weapon has matching numbers 1662 on the barrel and breech. The bolt has un-matching number. The bolt action firing mechanism works as it should. It has a block and blade fore sight, ladder rear sight, bayonet lug, steel butt plate and sling swivels. The price includes UK delivery. NB. SOLD SOLD (17/11) Romanian Martini M1879 11.43x49R Obsolete Calibre Underlever Military Rifle. Sn - 21119 Romania adopted the M1868 Peabody rifle in 1879 chambered for the unique 11.43x49R cartridge made by the Providence Tool Company of America. The Providence Tool Company had difficulty in obtaining payment for the Turkish Rifles and subsequently went bankrupt in 1882 An alternative source of supply for rifles for Roumania was sourced from Steyr O.E.W.G (Osterreichische Waffenfabrik Gesellschaft) for the hammerless Model 1879 Martini which is visually identical to the mark 1 British Martini Henry rifle including the chequered butt plate, large cocking indicator and the bulbous clearing rod. This rifle is one of those models which retains most of its original blued finish to the metalwork. The rifle is stamped on the left hand side of the receiver with the Steyr monogram with STEYR 1882 stamped into it. The right hand side of the receiver is stamped in a monogram ARMATA ROMANA ARMA Md 1879. The breach and barrel carry the matching serial numbers of N 4783 together with various proof and inspection stamps. The rifle is fitted with sling swivels, block and blade fore sight, graduated ladder rear sight, the correct chequered steel butt plate and a leather sling. The rifle measures 49” overall with a 33” rifled barrel which has crisp rifling and light staining consistent with age and service use. The metalwork retains most of its original blued finish and the original woodwork is in excellent condition. The cocking and firing actions work crisply. C1800 16 Bore Muzzle Loading Flintlock Belt Pistol With Brass Cudgel Butt & Ram Rod. Sn 21002 - 21002 This flintlock belt pistol made C1800 is 15 ½” overall length with a 9” barrel which is 16 bore. The barrel’s bore has staining & residue consistent with age. The all original Walnut stock has regulation brass furniture including cudgel butt and has just light bumps & bruises to be expected with age and service use. The metalwork in the white has even aged patina. It has a brass capped wood ram rod & is fitted with belt bar. There are no external visible maker, date or proof marks. 1854-1869 English Irwin Wallas Of Wigton & Carlisle (Cumberland) Double Barrelled 12 Bore Muzzle Loading Percussion Shotgun. Sn 21010 - 21010 Wallas were a large family of Wigton & Carlisle Cumberland based gunmakers working from 1827 through to C1913. Irwin Wallas is recorded at Ludgate Lane Wigton between 1854 and 1869 (see page 357 of British Gunmakers Vol 2 by Brown). This is a very good double barrel shotgun made by Irwin Wallas. It has all original Walnut furniture. The shotgun with double 30”, brown wash steel barrels, has double hammers & triggers. It measures 46” overall. The barrel has a small brass bead fore sight and the barrel rib is faintly signed ‘Wallas Wigton & Carlisle’. The cocking and firing actions are crisp. Both action plates are signed ‘I. Wallas’ within foliate decorations. The barrel’s smooth bores have just light staining consistent with age. The shotgun has its original wood ram rod with brass end cap and tip. **BEST QUALITY** Brace Of English Durs Egg London 24 Bore Percussion Traveling Pistols With Octagonal Damascus Steel Barrels & Captive Iron Ram Rods. Sn 21020 - 21020 Durs Egg (1748–1831) was a Swiss-born British gunmaker, noted for his quality pistols and for his company's production of the Ferguson rifle. Egg was apprenticed in Solothurn and Paris before establishing his own business in London in 1772. He was a contemporary of Joseph Manton, Jean Samuel Pauly and the uncle of Joseph Egg. When the famous gunsmith Durs Egg died in 1831 his Son John Egg took over the business operating at Haymarket London. In 1839 The business name reverted to Durs Egg at 4 Pall Mall London until 1854 then at 4 Colonnade Pall Mall from 1855 to 1865. This is a best quality pair of percussion traveling pistols by Durs Egg. The matching pistols are beautifully engraved with a foliate design on the action plates, hammers, trigger guards with extended tangs and Pineapple finials, butt caps and action tangs. The breeches both have inlaid gold lines and roundels. The action plates are both signed by the manufacturer 'D.Egg’. Both measure 14" overall & have 8” sighted Damascus steel octagonal barrels which are 24 bore. Each barrel is signed ‘London’. The smooth bores are clean and bright. They both have undamaged attractive full walnut stocks with chequered panels at their grips and polished horn fore end caps. The top of each stock is inlaid with void silver escutcheons.
