**RARE** British WD, 1859 Dated, 5 Groove, Enfield Tower Snider MK III .577 Calibre Cavalry Carbine With Chained Nipple Protector & Original 2 Piece Steel Cleaning Rod. Sn 21150 - 21150 This is an original British .577 Snider MK III Cavalry Carbine. The Snider action was introduced to British service in 1866 and muzzle loading Enfield Carbines were converted to allow the use of the .577 calibre brass cartridge. They remained in use until the Martini Henry was introduced. This carbine made in 1859 has a 19 ¼” barrel (37 ½” overall). The 5 groove barrels bore has just light staining consistent with age and well defined rifling. It has a brass butt plate with trap and brass trigger guard. The trap contains its rare to find original period 2 piece screw together steel cleaning rod. The woodwork is undamaged with just bumps and bruises to be expected. The action plate is marked with the Victoria Crown 'V.R' (Victoria Regina), dated 1859 and has the 'Tower' (Enfield) manufacturer's stamp together with ordnance inspection mark. The top of the breech is stamped 'III' model designation. The hinged breech cover also has WD inspection marks and the correct knurled steel breech release catch. The carbine has a fixed foresight, adjustable ladder rear sight and it is fitted with nipple protector with brass link chain. The action is crisp. The price includes UK delivery. C1800 16 Bore Muzzle Loading Flintlock Belt Pistol With Brass Cudgel Butt & Ram Rod. Sn 21002 - 21002 This flintlock belt pistol made C1800 is 15 ½” overall length with a 9” barrel which is 16 bore. The barrel’s bore has staining & residue consistent with age. The all original Walnut stock has regulation brass furniture including cudgel butt and has just light bumps & bruises to be expected with age and service use. The metalwork in the white has even aged patina. It has a brass capped wood ram rod & is fitted with belt bar. There are no external visible maker, date or proof marks. 1854-1869 English Irwin Wallas Of Wigton & Carlisle (Cumberland) Double Barrelled 12 Bore Muzzle Loading Percussion Shotgun. Sn 21010 - 21010 Wallas were a large family of Wigton & Carlisle Cumberland based gunmakers working from 1827 through to C1913. Irwin Wallas is recorded at Ludgate Lane Wigton between 1854 and 1869 (see page 357 of British Gunmakers Vol 2 by Brown). This is a very good double barrel shotgun made by Irwin Wallas. It has all original Walnut furniture. The shotgun with double 30”, brown wash steel barrels, has double hammers & triggers. It measures 46” overall. The barrel has a small brass bead fore sight and the barrel rib is faintly signed ‘Wallas Wigton & Carlisle’. The cocking and firing actions are crisp. Both action plates are signed ‘I. Wallas’ within foliate decorations. The barrel’s smooth bores have just light staining consistent with age. The shotgun has its original wood ram rod with brass end cap and tip. C1821-1830 English Richard Brunton York 54 Bore Flintlock Pocket Pistol With Turn Off Barrel. Sn 21013 - 21013 Richard Brunton was an English gunmaker recorded at High Street Doncaster Yorkshire 1817-1820 & Stonegate, York 1821-1830 (see page 182 of ‘British Gunmakers Vol.2’ by Brown). This is an excellent flintlock pocket pistol by Brunton made at his York premises. It is 6 ¼” overall with a 1 ¾” screw off barrel which is 54 Bore (the barrel requires a tool to turn it off, we do not have the tool). The smoothbore has just light staining consistent with age. The underside of the barrel & action have crisp English proofs. Its action is decorated with Martial shield and banners on both sides. One side has the manufacturer's name 'Brunton' & the reverse ‘York’. It has undamaged original bag shaped wood grip and safety catch. The cock is fitted with flint. C1820’s Brace Of English, Claborough Lincoln 32 Bore Flintlock Overcoat Pistols With Turn Off Octagonal Barrels & Concealed Triggers. Sn 21019 - 21019 Peter Claborough was an English gunsmith with premises at The High Street Lincoln between 1821 and 1828. Jane Claborough is recorded as operating at the same premises C1840. Peter's Brother Joseph Claborough operated as a gunsmith at various addresses in Birmingham between 1868 & 1902. This is an excellent pair of flintlock overcoat pistols by Claborough made at his premises in Lincoln. The pistols are each 7 ½” overall length with 2 ½” screw off octagonal barrels. The barrel’s smooth bores have just light staining consistent with age. The steel actions are both engraved by the maker 'Clabrough Lincoln' and have Martial banners and arms and foliate devices. They have ‘dog tooth’ engraved box lock actions with side mounted ‘v’ shaped rain proof pans, roller bearing frizzen springs, sliding safeties and folding concealed triggers. The actions work crisply. The pistols have English proof /inspection marks on the underside of the frames and barrels. The bag shaped wood grips with chequered panels, inlaid void diamond shaped white metal escutcheons and white metal Lion’s head butt caps are excellent & undamaged. The price includes UK delivery. British 1821 Pattern Board Of Ordnance / War Dept Enfield Tower Sea Service .577 Regulation Calibre Muzzle Loading Flintlock Pistol With Brass Cudgel Butt, Steel Belt Bar & Correct Steel Ram Rod. Sn 21016 - 21016 This is an excellent original 1821 Pattern Sea Service flintlock pistol. It is 15 ½” overall length with a 9” barrel which is .577 Regulation Calibre. The barrel’s bore has just light staining consistent with age. The all original Walnut stock has regulation brass furniture including cudgel butt and has just the bumps & bruises to be expected with age and service use. The wood is impressed with ‘Broad Arrow’ Board Of Ordnance / WD mark. It has its original correct steel ram rod & is fitted with later belt bar. The barrel has English proof marks.
