MINT BORE, Victorian British Volunteer/ Militia Private Purchase John Horsley of York .577 Snider Obsolete Calibre 3 Band Enfield Rifle. Sn - 20785 This is a quality private purchase .577 Calibre Snider, 3 Band Enfield Rifle retailed by John Horsley of York. The gun has all original walnut woodwork throughout and the steel action plate is signed by the retailer John Horsley of York. The rifle has a brass butt plate, trigger guard & fore end block. The rifle has the anti-snag Baddeley bands and the correct square section head cleaning rod adopted on later Snider rifles. The gun is complete with both sling swivels, cleaning rod, block and blade fore sight, 950 yard ramp and ladder rear sight & heavy military hammer. The breech and barrel have Birmingham proof / inspection marks for 25 bore which is .577 calibre. The breech and barrel also carry the snider logo, the breech block stamped on the top SNIDER PATENT. The rifle measures 55” overall with a 36 ½” barrel. The rifle retains much of its blued finish with a bore is near mint condition with crisp well defined rifling. The woodwork is in excellent condition with only minor marks to it. The cocking and firing action works perfectly. See page 14, Catalogue of the Enfield Pattern Room, British Rifles, HMSO. **RARE**Austrian Lorenz Model 1854/66 14mm Calibre Muzzle Loading Percussion Lorenz Jagerstutzen (Sharpshooter’s) Carbine 1866 Converted To 11x58R Cartridge Werndl Breech Loading. Sn 20731 - 20731 The Austrian Lorenz rifle and carbines were used in the mid 19th century. They were used in the Second Italian War of Independence in 1859 and the Austro-Prussian War in 1866, and also featured prominently in the American Civil War. The Lorenz rifle was designed by Austrian lieutenant Joseph Lorenz. It was first approved for manufacture in 1854, and was Austria's first all-new infantry firearm since 1842. Replacing the earlier Augustin musket, the Lorenz was first distributed to Austrian soldiers in 1855. In 1866 some of the rifles and carbines were converted to Werndl breech loading weapons. Our Austrian Model 1854/66 Muzzle Loading Percussion Lorenz Jagerstutzen (Sharpshooter’s) Carbine Was Converted To Werndl Breech Loading in 1866 and is in excellent condition. It has all original metal work in the white and Beech stock with Figured cheek piece. The wood and metal work are excellent. The wood is impressed with inspection marks illustrated. It is fitted with clearing rod, sling swivels, graduated sliding bar rear sight, block and blade foresight, bayonet lug and steel butt plate. The heel of the butt plate has indistinct regiment marks. The barrel is stamped ‘LW 11129’ and the metal has other numbers and marks (illustrated). The carbine’s 24½” 2 stage barrel has well defined rifling and just light staining consistent with age and use. It measures 43 ½”overall. It's loading and firing actions work crisply. These Jagerstutzen carbines were designed to take a specific sword bayonet only designed for these weapons, The Lorenz Jager carbine Bayonet with Helical Slot (see page 13 item 19 and page 8 of The Bayonet book by Watts & White). Sn 20694 - 20694 C1870 English Black Powder Obsolete Calibre Single Barrel Rotary Underlever Break Action Wildfowling Shotgun. It is 10 bore and has a 39” 2 stage browned steel barrel. Its smooth bore is clean. It has an attractive walnut stock with chequered grip panels and polished horn fore end cap. The underside of the wrist is inlaid with void brass disc. The action plate and barrel are signed by the maker or retailer ‘W P & W Skelton Warrington (Cheshire)’. The inside of the action block has black powder proofs. It has a steel butt plate & heavy steel hammer. The barrel has a small bead foresight. Its rotary underlever break action, cocking & firing actions work crisply. **RARE**MINT BORE**C1900 British Military A&N CSLtd London (Army & Navy Co-operative Stores Ltd) Martini Action .297/230 Obsolete Calibre ‘The British Cadet Rifle’ With ‘Take Down’ Action. Sn 19081. - 19081 This is an excellent Martini Action .297/230 Obsolete Calibre Cadet Rifle. Many of these rifles were sent to Australia for their military training. It is rare to find British examples without Australian marks. Our rare example without Australian Government marks is complete with sling Swivels, cleaning rod, block & blade foresight, adjustable graduated 50-100-200 yards ladder rear sight and steel butt plate. The steel barrel's bore is near mint clean & bright with typical light rifling and it has a crisp martini action which works crisply. It has all original wood furniture and metal work. The barrel is marked ‘The British Cadet Rifle’ & has calibre detail. The action is crisply stamped ‘A&N CSLtd London (Army & Navy Co-operative Stores Ltd)’ (Army & Navy Stores was a department store group in the United Kingdom, which originated as a co-operative society for military officers and their families during the nineteenth century. The society became a limited liability company in the 1930s and purchased a number of independent department stores during the 1950s and 1960s). *MINT BORE**C1850 British Enfield Tower Liege Belgium Contract .650 Carbine Calibre British Sea Service Customs / Revenue Type Muzzle Loading Percussion Pistol With Brass Fittings, Captive Steel Ram Rod & Belt Bar. A 586 - A 586 Due to heavy production demands for Sea service pistols the British Admiralty turned to their Belgian allies to produce Sea Service pattern pistols to supplement British made supplies. Liege pistols, although not the fine quality of the British version, were robust, heavy and well made resulting in other nations Governments also contracting Liege pistols for their armed forces. This is an original Victorian, Liege contract Tower Sea Service Customs / Revenue type percussion pistol. It is 12” overall length with 6” blued steel barrel in .650 Carbine Calibre. The barrel’s smooth bore is near mint clean and bright. The barrel is un-sighted. The Walnut full stock is a nice deep brown with regulation pattern brass furniture & has just light bumps & bruises to be expected with age and service use. It has its original captive steel ram rod & steel lanyard ring to the brass butt which is numbered ‘744’. The action plate is marked ‘Tower’ & with Crown VR (Victoria Regina). It has a heavy military hammer. The action functions crisply. The pistol is fitted with original steel belt bar. The price includes UK delivery. C1840 Spanish Form Ladies Or Youth Size Percussion 12 Bore Single Barrel Muzzle Loading Sporting Shotgun. Sn 20512:5 - 20512:5 This is an antique muzzle loading 12 Bore Single Barrel Muzzle Loading Percussion Sporting Shotgun in Spanish form. It has a 28 ½” two stage browned steel un-sighted barrel and measures a short 44 ½” overall making it ideal for ladies or youth use. The barrel has German silver bands and roundel insert at the breech. The barrel's smooth bore has staining & residue consistent with age and use. The action tang, hammer and action plate have engraved with foliate decoration. The trigger guard has extended tang with Pineapple finial. The wrist of the stock has chequered panels. The top of the wrist is inlaid with void German silver escutcheon and it has a German silver fore end block. The stock is fitted with a steel butt plate with extended tang & under the barrel are steel ram rod mounts. The stock is all original with just light bumps and bruises to be expected.
