C1800 British Form Thomson Flintlock 15 Bore Coaching / Overcoat Traveling Pistol Stock Marked ‘VII’ With Heavy Brass Fittings, Safety Bolt & Captive Iron Ram Rod. Sn 21393:19 - 21393:19 This is a rugged Flintlock coaching or overcoat traveling pistol in British form by Thomson (there were several British gunmakers named Thomson in London & the Provinces during the flintlock era, several of them being in Scotland). It is 10 ½” overall with a 5” round steel barrel. The barrels’ smooth bore is clean and has black powder proofs. It has a flat stepped lock & cock fitted with flint. The lock plate is signed ‘Thomson’ and has a safety bolt. It has a walnut full stock with brass cudgel butt. The wood has period hand applied Roman numerals ‘VII’ (possibly a coach or weapon number). It has heavy brass fittings including trigger guard with extended tang and fore end cap. It is complete with original captive iron ram rod. Its action works crisply. The price includes UK delivery. C1840 German Goellner A Suhl .50 Bore Percussion Target / Duelling Pistol With Octagonal Barrel & Safety Catch. Sn 18258:3. - 18258:3 This is an excellent quality percussion target / duelling pistol. The pistol has an 8” octagonal steel barrel (14 ¼” overall length). The smooth bore is clean. The top barrel flat is signed ‘Goellner A Suhl’. The action has foliate engraved decoration. Its attractive walnut full stock has a chequered grip panel, stepped steel pommel cap with foliate engraved decoration and polished horn fore end cap. There is a small, old, fine, stable crack in the wood near to the stock plate which can only be seen on close inspection (illustrated in image 3). The stock plate, ram rod flute tang and trigger guard with spur & extended tang have foliate tooled decoration including acanthus bud finials. The Dolphin hammer has a brass rosette head bolt securing it to the action and a swivelling safety catch. The pistol a blade fore sight and ‘v’ notch plate on the action rear sight. The pistol has a wood ram rod. The pistol’s cocking and firing actions work crisply. The price for this pistol worthy of further research regarding the manufacturer includes UK delivery. QUALITY C1840 English R.S. Clarke 16 Bore Percussion Traveling Pistol with Octagonal Damascus Barrel, German Silver Mounts & Ram Rod. 15033. - 15033 This is a quality made percussion pistol made C1840. It is 9 ½” overall with a 5” octagonal Damascus steel barrel. The barrel is fitted with German silver blade fore sight and grooved action rear sight. The barrel’s smoothbore is clean. The barrel has double inlaid silver lines and the action a silver roundel insert. It’s action plate, Dolphin hammer and trigger guard with extended tang have crisp foliate engraved decoration. The action plate is signed by the maker in stylised script ‘R.S. Clark’. Its original walnut stock has a chequered panel pistol grip. The wood has just light bumps and bruises to be expected with age and use. The stock has German silver fittings (a small piece of one German silver stock mount on the right side of the pistol is absent as can be seen in the images). The pistol has its original wood ram rod with horn end cap. Its action works as it should. The price for this pistol worthy of further research re the maker includes UK delivery. Enfield, 1860 Dated, Snider 2 Band .577 Obsolete Calibre Short Rifle, Chained Nipple Protector & 1 x Inert Deactivated Round Marked to; the 66th Regiment of Foot. - A 1124 This is an excellent Enfield made .577 Snider 2 band rifle. The rifle was originally made as a breech loading percussion service rifle and was later converted to the Snider breechloading system to continue in British service. The rifle has all original wood work in excellent condition with only minor marks from service use. The rifle has the regulation brass fittings with iron barrel bands and ramrod. The barrel retains much of its original blued finish and has an excellent bore with well defined rifling with minor staining and residue from use. The rifle carries Enfield inspection/proof marks. The breech also carries Enfield inspection/proof marks as well as SNIDERS PATENT stamped on the top. The rifle is fitted with the plain style Enfield lockplate and is stamped 1860 ENFIELD, a queens crown over V.R (Victoria Regina) and 2 inspection marks. The total length is 43 inches with a 28 inch barrel. The rifle is fitted with a 2* breech and has the correct hinged cover. The breech has snider’s Patent mark. The stock carries an excellent Enfield roundel to the right hand side ‘R,M ENFIELD WD and a crowfoot. Behind this near the butt plate is stamped D C. the top of the brass butt plate is stamped 66 over 361. (66th [Berkshire] Regiment of Foot which was raised in 1758 and was merged in 1881 into The Princess Charlotte of Wales’s {Berkshire Regiment}), gun number 361. The action is fitted with link chained nipple protector. The cocking & firing action work crisply. The rifle comes with a single Inert Deactivated Round of Kynoch .577 Ammunition. **ALL MATCHING NUMBERS INCLUDING CYLINDER**1861 FIRST YEAR OF PRODUCTION** American Civil War Colt New York Model 1861 Navy .36 Calibre, Cap And Ball, Single Action, Percussion, 6 Shot Revolver. Sn 22474:6 - 22474:6 The Colt Model 1861 Navy was a muzzle-loading cap & ball .36-calibre revolver used during the American Civil War. It was used as a side arm by Cavalry, Infantry, Artillery troops, and Naval forces. Pocket versions of the full size navy revolver were available in the period (see page 134 of Colt Firearms by Serven). This original, Colt New York Model 1861 Navy revolver is in very good condition with even patina throughout. It has original walnut grip, a 7 ½” octagonal barrel and measures 13 ½” overall length. The bore has staining consistent with age & well defined rifling. The cylinder is faintly stamped ‘Colt’s Patent’ & faint number ‘2301’ which dates it to the first year of production 1861. It has crisp matching serial numbers stamped on its frame, barrel block, trigger guard and butt of the brass grip frame. The brass grip frame is stamped ‘.36 Cal.’ & ‘4’ factory inspector’s marks. The top of the barrel is marked 'Address SamL Colt New York USA’. It has a captive lever ram rod, blade fore sight and ‘v’ notch hammer rear sight. The weapon cocks and dry fires crisply. SOLD SOLD (16/04) **MINT BORE**FIRST YEAR OF LONDON PRODUCTION**1853 CRIMEA WAR ERA**ALL MATCHING NUMBERS INCLUDING CYLINDER**British Colt London Navy Model 1851.36 Calibre Cap & Ball Revolver. Sn 22474:5 - 22474:5 The Colt Model 1851 Navy was a muzzle-loading, single action, cap & ball .36 calibre revolver used during the American Civil War. It was used as a side arm by Cavalry, Infantry, Artillery troops, and Naval forces. The weapons were also favoured by British Officer’s as private purchase side arms during the Crimean War due to their innovative design and ease of loading. During the Crimea War, The British Government ordered 9,000 Colt revolvers. This Colt London Model 1851 Navy revolver is in very good original condition. The pistol has a 7 ½” octagonal steel barrel and measures 13 ½” overall. The barrel’s bore is near mint clean & bright with well defined rifling. The metal work has even patina. The weapon has a conical brass post foresight and 'notched hammer' rear sight. It has a captive 'lever' ramrod. The barrel is crisply stamped with manufacturer detail 'Address Col. Colt London'. The cylinder and frame have British Victorian ‘Crown V’ and ‘Crown P’ proof marks and is marked ‘Colt’s Patent’. The pistol has all matching serial numbers '3100' on the barrel block, frame, trigger guard, butt strap & cylinder which dates its manufacturer to the first year of Colt’s London Factory production in 1853 during the Crimea war (1853-1856). The cylinder is also marked Colt’s Patent and has faint Naval battle scene (London Navy Colts were available with and without cylinder scenes, see page 120 of Colt Firearms by Serven. It has undamaged American Walnut grips and the pistol's single action cocking & firing actions work as they should.
