*Wartime Issue* No5 Bayonet and Scabbard. 20444:9. - 20444:9 This is a nice wartime issued bayonet with no discernible marks to the blade apart from a War department Broad Arrow to the pommel. (The No. 5 Bayonet was the bayonet used with the No 5 Lee-Enfield which is nicknamed "Jungle carbine ".The bayonet was a blade which marked a return of the British Army to using blade type bayonets like the Pattern 1907 bayonet instead of socket bayonets such as the No. 4 Bayonets used on the No. 4 Lee-Enfield.). The pommel shows signs of issue wear, the grips are contrastive but the blade carries most of its original finish. The scabbard is the ‘No5 MkI’ with steel mouthpiece. No7 Mkl/L Bayonet Scabbard and Frog. 20444:6. - 20444:6 This is a nice No7 bayonet marked to the blade with ‘No7 MkI/L’. The pommel carries a broad arrow and ‘A V ‘over ‘2’. The bayonet shows signs of issue wear, but no damage. The grips are in near perfect condition. It is contained in its ‘No5 MkI’ scabbard with steel mouthpiece, which is showing no damage. The frog is a tan ‘1937’ pattern with a broad arrow and ‘1941’ to the rear, all of the stitching is in place. See ‘Skennerton’ item B299, pages 242 – 244. The price includes UK delivery. 20444:6. U.S. 1942 Dated M1 Bayonet and Scabbard. 20436. - 20436 This is a newly made M1 bayonet for the M1 Garand (The M1 Garand or M1 rifle is a semi-automatic rifle that was the service rifle of the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War) and not a cut down M1905 or M1942 blade. The blade carries the flaming grenade and ‘1942’ on one side and ‘U.S.’ on the other. The blade is fullered and predominantly unmarked with only minor signs of use related wear. It is carried in its correct green plastic scabbard with ‘U.S.’ within a flaming grenade to the top mount. The scabbard is undamaged and has a nice aged patina. Chilean M1910 Police Sidearm Converted From French Gras 1874 Bayonet and Steel Scabbard. BAYO 297. - BAYO 297 This is a nice unusual conversion. It is a Chilean Police sidearm and scabbard issued to the Chilean Police in 1910. These were made up using a section of the blade and the crossguard of a French Gras 1874 bayonet. This was then mated to a solid brass hilt bearing the Chilean Coat of Arms. The blade of the bayonet has been shortened dramatically to 11.25 inches and the bayonet measures 16 inches overall. There is no mortise slot or fixing button and therefore it was only intended as a dress item. The cross guard with muzzle ring and quillon is present. The hilt has number "B1287" stamped on it's side. The bayonet is complete with it's steel scabbard with brass mounts which is in nice condition. These are an uncommon item, (see Martin J. Turkish Sword Bayonet for the Mauser 1903 Rifle. BAYO 307. - BAYO 307 This is a nice M1903 bayonet which was adopted for the 1903 Mauser rifle. It has a quill backed blade identical to the German M1898 Mauser bayonet, but retains the hilt used on the M1887 & M1890 bayonets. There is Turkish script to the ricasso, usually denoting the German maker, which in this case is ‘Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Co’. The spine of the blade carries the Turkish crescent ‘moon & star’ as does the quillon. The crossguard carries an indistinct serial number. The pommel carries the ‘Toughra’ marking of ‘Abdul Hamid II’ & Turkish Crescent and other inspection stamps. This is a well-marked and scarce bayonet, as many of these long bayonets were shortened during the inter-war period. *Scarce* 1960’s South African No.9 Bayonet By Armscor Subsiduaries For No.4 SMLE Rifles & Scabbard. BAYO 254. - BAYO 254 This is a bayonet unique to South Africa. The socket is virtually identical to the British No.9 bayonet but with a blade from the UZI SMG. According to Skennerton these bayonets were made to fit No.4 rifle, were made in the early 60's by Armscor. They were intended for us by South African Local Defence Force Commandos (see page 370 item 6 of Skennerton’s book British & Commonwealth Bayonets). They were issued in both reinforced fibreglass scabbards and as in the case of our example steel scabbards from UZI bayonets. The bayonet has an excellent clean blackened 6 ¾” single edged blade and pommel with ribbed release button. The scabbard with frog stud has original black paint and no dents.
