1943 Dated Nazi German K98 Bayonet By ‘asw’ (E&F Horster Solingen) with Later Etched Blade ‘Srhlarhtsrhiff-Tirpitz’ Kriegsmarine. 19898:7. - 19898:7 An original WW2 Nazi K98 rifle bayonet with later beautiful etching that makes this a collector’s piece in its own right. The 10" single edged fullered blade is marked by the Nazi wartime manufacturer code marked at the ricasso ‘asw 43’. The blade is numbered ‘0564’ and is beautifully etched on both sides with panels ‘Kriegsmarine above Mit-unsern-Fahnen-ist-der-Sieg’ translated: (Our flag/colours will be victorious/with our flag comes victory) and ‘Srhlarhtschiff – Turpitz’ (The Tirpitz was a German Navy battleship used duringWorld War II. She belonged to the Bismarck class and was named after the German Navy Secretary of State and Grand Admiral Alfred von Tirpitz . Slightly heavier than her sister ship Bismarck due to minor design improvements, the Tirpitz is to date the largest battleship ever completed in Europe.. The pommel has an etched panel on one side ‘ Kriegsmarine anchor device & Swastika within panel’. The pommel is Waffenamt and has original red felt in the mortise slot. The bayonet has undamaged wood grips. Its painted steel scabbard is marked ‘3077’. The ball end of the scabbard is Waffenamt. Model 58 Czech Knife Bayonet & 1974 Dated Scabbard. ED 2209. - ED 2209 This is an excellent Czech Model 58 Knife Bayonet. The bayonet has a 6 3/4" parkerised single edged fullered blade with medial ridge. It measures 11 ½ " overall. It has a full tang which incorporates the bayonet bar slot and protrudes from the end of the grips to form a curved pommel. The blade is stamped with the number '26p52'. The back of the blade is stamped '135'. It has wood grips retained by 2 rivets & short cross guard with muzzle ring. It's leather scabbard is in similar excellent undamaged condition. It has a single belt loop, retaining strap and stud fastener. The rear is ink stamped with a cartouche which contains a '1974' date amongst other numbers & letters. (Illustrated). *Scarce* U.S Model 1873 Trowel Bayonet Stamped 'AT. APR 16=72'. (CLIFF RAILINGS COLLECTION). Sn 7571. - 7571 Developed to serve as both a combat bayonet and entrenching tool, the Trowel bayonet for the Remington Rolling Block rifle was patented in April of 1872. It had a unique way of attaching to the muzzle of the rifle in that the rear of the bayonet socket rotated to allow fixing. This is a good original example 10 ½ “long and 3 ½ “at its widest. The double edged blade tapers to a sharp point and the reverse has medial ridge. The bayonet has the correct knurled grip section which rotates as it should. The grip is stamped with small Patent lettering 'AT. APR 16=72' (16th April 1872). The bayonet is undamaged. There is slight age related staining to the blade but no rust or pitting. *U.S. ‘M1 Garand’ Bayonet and Scabbard. BAYO 6295. - BAYO 6295 This is an ‘M1 Garand’ bayonet with an original blade *showing signs of use related wear* and not a cut down ‘M1905’ or ‘M1942’. The fullers do not run through to the tip as with the cut down bayonets, but stop 2 ¾ “from the tip. It is marked to the blade with ‘U.F.H’ ‘Union Fork and Hoe’ and a flaming grenade, with the other side sporting the flaming grenade. The grips are black ribbed plastic held by a single screw-bolt. The scabbard is an olive drab, again freshly made and not a cut down version. It is marked to the top mount with a flaming grenade and U.S., See ‘An Illustrated History of Bayonets’ by Martin.J.Brayley, pages 231-241. A good collectors piece. The price includes U.K. delivery. India Pattern No 1 - MK1 ** Bayonet With The Fuller Running to the Tip, Scabbard & Frog. Sn 12829. - 12829 An Indian Pattern No.1- MK I** bayonet and leather scabbard. This is a shortened conversion of an earlier bayonet with the fuller running to the tip and with an addition of a false edge. This is a conversion in the India pattern range of a 1907 Wilkinson made bayonet. According to Skennerton's many of these conversions with a false edge were done during the 1950's. This example was done in 1956 and carries the stamp "F.R. 56" denoting 'Factory repair 1956'. The other side of the ricasso has a faint stamp of Wilkinson's, Crown over "G.R." but now over stamped with "MK **". The bayonet is in excellent condition. It has a blued 12" blade. It has slab wood grips which are secured with two screw bolts and one is stamped with Indian inspection marks. The pommel has a release button which operates smoothly and it has a clearance hole. *Scarce* 1909 Dated Canadian Ross Mark I, 1908 Patent, Bayonet with Stepped Back Muzzle Ring & Original Blade Tip, Complete With 1909 Dated Scabbard With Integral Frog. Sn 10880:25. - 10880:25 A WW1 Canadian Ross Mark I bayonet, for the Ross Rifle, complete with its scabbard and frog. The bayonet measures 14 3/4 inches overall and has a nice 10 inch blade. The bayonets wood slab grips are in good undamaged condition and are stamped with inspection marks and regimental number, "K 692". The grips are secured with two screw bolts. One side of the pommel bears the manufacturer's patent details ' Ross Rifle Co. Quebec, Patented 1907' the reverse is stamped '08' with the War Department 'Crows Foot' and '06/09' ( June 1909 date) with "08" and an inspection mark. The cross guard is straight with a stepped back muzzle ring and inside this is a recess which contains a split annular spring with three flattened surfaces. This acts against the muzzle and ring to provide a rattle free and positive fit. The bayonet is often referred to as the Pattern 1908 bayonet. Only 52,000 were made of the first pattern making this a scarce bayonet. The bayonet is complete with its beautifully patinated leather covered scabbard which has an integral leather frog with a large single belt loop. The scabbard is regimental stamped with "W 6 10 BH D 22" and date stamped adjacent to the stitching on the reverse with "1909".
