WWII British Lee Enfield No 4 MK 1 Cruciform Spike Bayonet By ‘SM’ (Singer Manufacturing Co) With MK 1 Scabbard. BAYO 763. - BAYO 763 An excellent, original, Lee Enfield No.4 MK 1 spike bayonet with cruciform blade in its original scabbard. The socket is stamped No. 4 MK.1 and by the manufacturer 'SM' (the Singer Manufacturing Co). Its 8” cruciform blade is undamaged and its ribbed locking catch works as it should. British Lancaster Sword Bayonet Post 1855 British Army Sappers, Miners & Engineers 1855 Pattern Lancaster Rifle Pipeback. BAYO 758. - BAYO 758 British Sappers and Miners Units adopted an oval barrel rifle in 1855 and produced their own distinctive bayonet with a Falchion or pipe backed blade. The leather scabbard had brass fittings. After 1857 the Sappers and Miners were renamed the Engineers so the blade is sometimes called the Engineers Bayonet. After removal from Engineer service they became a side arm particularly for the Medical Corps. Early examples had a leaf spring secured by a rivet but post 1858 the springs on these bayonets were secured by a screw. The British Government ordered quantities of these bayonets from German manufacturers & both the London and Birmingham trade (see page 122, item B160 of British & Commonwealth Bayonets By Skennerton). This is an excellent original example of the 1855 Lancaster bayonet. It has the correct 24”pipeback blade which has just light staining consistent with age, brass cross guard with muzzle ring and brass pommel with correct flat steel spring bar with post 1858 retaining screw and push button which works as it should. The blade is marked by Manufacturer J.E. Bleckman - Solingen Germany. There are no visible dates or unit marks. Its original black hard leather grips are undamaged and correctly secured by rivets. British, WW2, 1941 Dated, Lee Enfield No 4 MK I Cruciform Spike Bayonet by SM (Singer Manufacturing Co) with MK I Scabbard and Webbing Frog & Safety Clip. - BAYO 756 The No. 4 Mk. I was beautifully made, with its distinctive cruciform blade in one solid forging. Only 75,000 of this type were made. Production occurred during the latter half of 1941 and into the early months of 1942. The only maker was the Singer Manufacturing Co. (the famous sewing machine manufacturer), at their Clydebank, Scottish plant. One influence in the selection of Singer was that Scotland it was felt it would be safer from German bombers than in England. This is an excellent, original, Lee Enfield No.4 MK 1 spike bayonet with cruciform blade in its original scabbard. The socket is stamped No. 4 MK.1 and by the manufacturer SM (Singer Manufacturing Co). The 8” cruciform blade is undamaged, and its ribbed locking catch works as it should. The ribbed licking catch is stamped SM 41 (Singer Manufacturing, 1941 date). The bayonets scabbard is in similar excellent condition with no dents. **American M1917 Bayonet By Remington and Scabbard. BAYO 749. - BAYO 749 This is a good condition M1917 bayonet made by Remington. It is nicely stamped on the ricasso with ‘1917 Remington’. The other side is stamped with the 'Flaming Grenade' over "US" and the eagles head inspection mark. The wooden grips which are showing signs of use have two grooves cut into them and there is an oil hole in the pommel. It is carried in its first pattern scabbard with frog stud which carries the U.S. Later scabbards merely have the belt hooks attached to the top mount. The American scabbards also have a small drain hole drilled in the bottom of the chape, unlike British versions which did not have the hole. *WWII* Dated '1907' 1943 Bayonet and 1914 Pattern Leather Frog. BAYO 748. - BAYO 748 This is an excellent condition WWII 1907 pattern bayonet for the Enfield rifle manufactured in ‘September 1943’. The ricasso is marked '1907, 'W.S.C (Wilkinson Sword Company) 9 '43 (Date). The reverse has inspection stamps. The blade is in a beautiful polished condition. The wood slabs are undamaged. It's steel locket & Chape are undamaged. It is also fitted with an original WW1 1914 pattern leather frog. All leather & stitching is intact. This original item has no signs of damage or repair. *British Pattern ‘1887 MKIII’ Sword Bayonet and Scabbard. BAYO 743. - BAYO 743 This is a very clean ‘1887’ pattern ‘MKIII’ bayonet, and is the version with no fullers to the blade. The blade carries a crown over ‘V.R. /88’ (1888) it was probably made at ‘Enfield, Wilkinson’ as other makers clearly stamped their blades. The other side of the blade carries a broad arrow over ‘W.D.’ and an inspection stamp. There are also two inspection stamps t the spine. The pommel carries the number ‘9830’. The grips are black leather secured by two rivets, and the blade measures 18 ¼ “. The scabbard is brass mounted black leather instead of the usual steel, and it is thought that these scabbards were used by Indian troops. The mouthpiece is stamped ‘C.H.’ Broad arrow over ‘I 00’. *WWI British ‘P13’ Mk1 Sword, Bayonet and Scabbard. BAYO 742. - BAYO 742 This is a great example of the ‘P13’ bayonet, which although designated ‘P13’, fit the ‘P14’ rifle and was not introduced until ‘1916’. It is marked to the blade with ‘1913’ over ‘5 17’ (May 1917) and ‘Remington’ in a circle. The other side of the blade carries British inspection stamps. The vast majority of these bayonets were made in America by ‘Remington and Winchester’ with only a few made in England by ‘Vickers’. The wooden grips have two grooves on either side to distinguish it from the ‘P1907’. The scabbard is a British ‘No1 MKII’ with a round frog stud, and the frog is a ‘1939’ leather version stamped to the rear with ‘Lees (W) Ltd 1940 F8;’ probably re-issued to the Homeguard in ‘WWII’. British ‘1907’ Pattern Bayonet and Scabbard. BAYO 907. - BAYO 907 This is a nice ‘1907’ bayonet that has had its quillon removed on re-furbishment. The blade is stamped ‘Crown over G.R. 1907 10’11 (dating it October 1911) and ‘E.F.D. (Enfield). The production figures for 1911 were only 32,706 at ‘Enfield’, but the bayonet was also made in large quantities by ‘Wilkinsons’ and others. In ‘1913’ it was decided to remove the quillon and all further bayonets were made without the quillon and those that came in for refurbishment had it removed, (see Skennerton item B234 & B235 PAGES 186-195). The other side of the blade has a broad arrow and several inspection stamps. The grips are wood, held on by two screwbolts, and are in near mint condition. The scabbard is the ‘No1 MkII’ which is showing signs of service related wear with a round frog stud. The price includes U.K. delivery. BAYO 907. £245.00 |

*Scarce WWII British 1907 ‘Lanchester’ Bayonet, Scabbard and Frog. BAYO 708. - BAYO 708 This is a scarce 1907 pattern bayonet manufactured by ‘Wilkinson Sword Company’ in WWII to fulfil a contract from the ‘Royal Navy’ for a bayonet to fit the ‘Lanchester’ sub machine gun which were mainly issued to the Navy. It is distinguishable from the standard ‘1907’ pattern by the markings to the blade of crown over ‘E.R. 1907 S294 W.S.C. and 3 ’44. The ‘S294’ is ‘Wilkinsons’ wartime code and 3 ‘44 denotes its manufacture in March 1944. The scabbard is a ‘No1 MkII’ with round frog stud and marked to both. The chape and topmount are imprinted with ‘W.J.H.’ over ‘B’ and ‘M/121’. The frog is a standard 1937 pattern webbing example. Only ’87,600’ of these bayonets were manufactured from ‘1943’ onwards, making them a very scarce bayonet. The blade is in excellent condition with only minor age related marks.
