**FALKLANDS WAR BRING BACK**Argentine Type A Knife Bayonet For FN FAL Rifles With Flash Suppressor Prongs Removed, Scabbard & Tempex Frog. Sn 18207 - 18207 Production of the Belgian Type A FN FAL bayonet began in 1953. Argentine made bayonets were made with plastic grips and their scabbards were more pointed than the Belgium made model. These bayonets were used by Argentine forces in the Falklands War (See Page 21 of An Illustrated History Of Bayonets by Brayley where an Argentine Type A bayonet (with flash suppressor prongs) captured at the Falklands battle of Goose green is illustrated). This Argentine Type A bayonet is most likely a bring back from the Falklands war. The bayonet is in excellent condition with correct ribbed plastic grips and distinctive locking catch on the pommel. The muzzle ring originally would have had 2 muzzle flash suppressor prongs. The prongs have been contemporarily been removed. It has a 7 ¾” long polished steel blade which has light staining consistent with age and measures 12 ¾” overall. The pommel is numbered 46092. There are no other manufacturer marks on the bayonet. The blackened metal scabbard is the slim Argentine pattern. The scabbard has a frog bar. The throat is numbered ‘06421’. The scabbard is fitted with period webbing frog which has 2 retaining straps with press stud fasteners marked ‘Tempex’ and steel wire belt bar. The rear of the frog has a riveted plastic belt attachment mount (see page 22 of Brayley’s book where an Argentine Tempex frog the same as ours is illustrated). The price includes UK delivery. Spanish CETME M1969 Bolo Knife Bayonet And Scabbard - BAYO 621 This is a Spanish CETME M1969 Bolo knife bayonet and scabbard. The unfullered bolo blade is stamped with the Toledo coat of arms under the serial number EI 45169B on one side and the factory crest of the Instituto Nacional de Industria (INI) on the other side. The end of the pommel has the unusual rectangular mortise slot on the pommel face. The black plastic cross hatched grips are undamaged. The green plastic scabbard is undamaged as it the webbing frog, (see page 253 of White & Watts ‘The Bayonet Book’). This is a very nice complete and original bayonet and scabbard. Canadian WW1 Ross Mk II Bayonet And Scabbard - BAYO 616 This is a nice Mk II Ross bayonet with a modified blade profile. This modification was authorised in October 1915 to give better penetration over the more rounded original blade shape tip. The pommel carries the Canadian Government ownership mark of an arrow within a Capital C, the Ross factory inspection mark of a crown over 4 and the date of manufacture 11 over 2/17 (February 1917 date). The other side carries Ross Rifle Co. Quebec Patented 1907. One of the grips carries the Ross factory inspection mark. The spine of the tang also carries 2 Ross factory inspection stamps. Scarce India Pattern Carbine Socket Bayonet c.1813. BAYO 597 - BAYO 597 This is a scarce India pattern carbine socket bayonet similar to those shown as B74 and B75 on page 58 of Skennertons British and Commonwealth Bayonets book. B75 is the nearest one to our example with an overall length of 15 ½ inches and a socket length of3 inches. The muzzle ring diameter is 21.5mm with the stud to muzzle measurement being smaller than the usual 1.5 inches. Skennerton states that the main possibilities are cadet, constabulary or even artillery issue but no positive identification has been made. There is an unidentified mark at the base of the blade. This is a nice and scarce socket bayonet, c.1813 and worthy of more detailed research. The price includes U.K. delivery. BAYO 597 £295.00 |

1978 British Royal Factory Ishapore India Arsenal (RFI) No.5 Jungle Carbine Bayonet & Scabbard. BAYO 595 - BAYO 595 This is a very good British No.5 Jungle Carbine Bayonet and Scabbard. These bayonets were used during WW2 and post war. The bayonet with fullered, 8" Bowie style blued blade (12" overall) has muzzle ring, cross guard and pommel with lug button that has a good strong spring action. It has slab wood grips secured by screw bolts. The blade is manufacturer marked ‘RFI’ (Royal Factory Ishapore India Arsenal) at the ricasso together with ‘78’ (1978 date). Belgium Model 1924 Short Bayonet And Scabbard. BAYO 589 - BAYO 589 This is a Belgium Model 1924 short bayonet made to fit the Belgian FN24, FN30 and the Czech VZ24 rifles. There are no markings on the bayonet except for a serial number 28560 stamped to the end of the pommel. The scabbard has been painted green early in its life. These bayonets were made to compete in the international arms market during the 1920s and 1930s, especially against the Czechoslovakian producer Brno who made a virtually identical bayonet called the VZ 24. This bayonet was also copied by Yugoslavia where it was also designated the 1924. See Martin J. Brayley, An Illustrated History of Bayonets on pages 35 – 37. Belgium Unusual Conversion Of A Belgian Albini-Braendlin Socket Bayonet. BAYO 587 - BAYO 587 This is an unusual conversion of a Belgian socket bayonet. The socket has had a long groove cut into the top of the socket. Possibly for raised sights. The locking ring has a spade type screw fixing for hand tightening. The blade is 17 ½” long. The socket measures 3” long with a muzzle ring diameter of 24mm. The leather scabbard is of the type used for the Albini-Braendlin socket bayonet and this bayonet fits the scabbard perfectly. Norwegian M1894 Bayonet And Scabbard. BAYO 326 - BAYO 326 This is a Norwegian M1894 short bayonet for the Norwegian 1894 Krag Jorgensen rifle. These bayonets were made at the Konesberg Arsenal in Norway or at the OEWG Arsenal in Austria. This is a Norwegian produced bayonet and carries a crowned K marking on the blade together with inspection stamps and a controllers inistials on the other. The crossguard carries the number 106144 which is repeated on the scabbard throat. It is unusual to find these bayonets with matching numbers as most have been re-married when in for re-furbishment etc. The bayonet is held in place by a press stud locking device which also operates the locking device for the rifle. The grips are of plane wood held by one screw which also acts as a pivot for the locking catch. The blade is single edged for most of its length apart for a short ½” length at the tip. The steel scabbard retains most of its original black finish. These bayonets were still in use in 1940 when Norway was overrun by the Germans and were used by German second line and security troops during the occupation. See Martin J. Australian Korean War Period (1952 Dated) Mark 1 Owen Machine Gun Bayonet, Scabbard And Frog. BAYO 518 - BAYO 518 This is a very early Owen machine gun bayonet newly made at Lithgow on 1952. Skennerton states that production did not start at Lithgow until 1953. The blade carries a broad arrow over ’52 and an O over a broad arrow and I on the other side with X MA on the other. (MA is the Lithgow mark). The blade is 10 inches long with a 5 inch fuller and is heavily blued. The grips are made of wood and are stamped SLAZ 51. The scabbard is a shortened Mk1 and has a feint MANGROVITE stamped into the rear next to the seam. The frog is a standard ’37 webbing pattern version. This is a very nice Korean War period Owen sub machine gun bayonet in virtually mint condition. See Skennerton item A13 on pages 278 and 279. Price for includes UK delivery. BAYO 518 £275.00 |
