**NAMED**WW1 1917 Dated Imperial German Trench/Fighting Knife (Hunting Style Variant) With Stag Antler Hilt, Solingen Addressed Blade Etched To A Named Officer Of The Ordnungsamt Enthalle (Police Public Order Regulatory Office Frankfurt) & Scabbard. - 20923
This is an excellent original WW1 dated German trench/fighting knife and leather scabbard. The knife is a hunting style variant and features a stag-horn hilt (see pages 40 and 41 of Stephen's book 'Fighting Knives' where similar variants are illustrated). The dagger has a white metal pommel cap, ribbed German Silver ferrule and steel re-curving cross guard. The hilt is curved stag-horn. The blade is 6” in length with medial ridge. The blade has some areas of light staining consistent with age. The blade is etched with a presentation inscription on one side with the name of the recipient and most likely the donor’s name and Solingen address all in German. The reverse has German text which looks like ‘Ordnungsamt Enthalle’ (the Public Order Policing Regulatory Office at Frankfurt) & 1917 date. The blade has staining consistent with age and service carry. It is 10 ¾” overall length. The knife is complete with its original leather scabbard with integral belt loop and retaining strap with press stud fastener. WW1 Imperial German Officer’s Ernst Pack & Sohne Solingen Trench Dagger / Fighting Knife With Carbine Bayonet Blade (Hilt Design Based On German WW1 Dress Bayonet) & Scabbard. ED 2207 - ED 2207
This is a an original WW1 German Officer’s trench dagger / fighting knife. This form of trench dagger were based on dress bayonets issued during WW1 (see page 50 of German Combat Knives 1914-1945 By Mery where similar hilt variants are illustrated). This dagger is 12 ¼” overall with a 7 ¾” steel blade similar to those found on German carbine bayonets (see page 180 item 403 of ‘The Bayonet Book’ by Watts & White). The blade is marked with the trademark of Ernst Pack & Sohne Solingen. It has the correct Eagle's head pommel with correct false bayonet button which pushes in but is correctly non-functioning & forms the Eagles eye and bayonet type mortice slot (this fighting knife was not made for fixing to a rifle). The undamaged chequered wood scales are secured with two rivets. It has an up-swept quillon cross guard. The dagger has its original blackened metal scabbard which has a ball end and frog locket. WW2 Era Nazi German Luftwaffen- Kampfmesser Pilot’s & Paratrooper’s Fallschirmjager Boot Knife With Luftwaffe Acceptance Mark & Scabbard. Sn 20878 - 20878
An original, WW2 German Luftwaffe Luftwaffen- Kampfmesser Boot Knife & Scabbard in excellent condition. These knives were carried in the boots of Luftwaffe pilots and Air crew and were favoured by Nazi Fallschirmjager Paratroopers (see page 78 of German Combat knives 1914-1945 By Mery). The knife has an undamaged, 6 ¾” steel blade which has just light staining consistent with age and has the correct, crisp, Luftwaffe stylised Eagle acceptance mark. The overall length is 11 ¼”. The grips are smooth contoured wood and secured to the tang by three rivets. The grips have just light bumps and bruises consistent with age and service use. Original Inter World War German Trench Dagger / Fighting Knife with Stag Horn Handle, Pommel Marked 'Gesetzl Geschutzt' and Later Sheath. ED 2200. - ED 2200
This is an original Inter World War German Trench Dagger (With the exception of the German Nahkampfmesser or (close combat knife), most early trench knives were fabricated by hand by individual soldiers or blacksmiths for the purpose of silently killing sentries and other soldiers during trench raids. These early "trench knives" were often shortened and sharpened Army-issue bayonets. One type of stabbing weapon, the French Nail, was made by cutting and pointing the steel stakes used to support the barbed wire protecting trenches. Some historians say that some trench knives models were inspired by the Bowie knife) It has a Stag Horn handle with steel pommel cap marked 'Gesetzl Geschutzt' with number '3396'. This is an original Inter World War German Trench Dagger (A trench knife is a combat knife designed to kill or incapacitate an enemy at close quarters, such as in a trench or other confined area. It was developed as a close combat weapon for soldiers attacking enemy trenches during the First World War. An example of a World War I trench knife is the German Army's Nahkampfmesser (close combat knife). It has a Deer's foot handle and a clean 3 ½ “single edged blade. The blade is nicely marked on one side with the Solingen manufacturer's 'dagger' trademark above 'Solingen'. The knife is complete with original brown leather sheath. The price includes UK delivery. Inter World War German Trench Dagger/Knife By Eickhorn, Solingen & Scabbard With Integral Frog/ Belt Loop. Sn 11046 - 11046
This is a German trench dagger/fighting knife. These daggers were made during the Inter War years by Eickhorn Solingen in the form of WW1 Imperial German Trench Daggers which were modelled on period German Army dress bayonets. (see page 37 Item 151 of Fred Stephens book Fighting Knives). This example is 10 ¼” overall with a 5 ¼”steel blade. It has an Eagle's head pommel (WW1 versions had functioning false bayonet button which forms the Eagles eye. Inter War versions as with this example have plain pommels without button). The grips are chequered hard rubber secured with two rivets. It has a short up-swept quillon cross guard. The blade has no manufacturer marks but this dagger is typical of those made by Eickhorn. This is a very well made and substantial trench dagger. It comes with its original metal scabbard which retains most of its original black paint. The Hubertus Knife Company was founded by Kuno Ritter in 1932, called The Ritter Knife Company. Kuno Ritter and his crew made the first Boy Scout knives for the German Boy Scouts and produced many Styles of Hunting Knives as well. In the 1950's the growth of the Knife Industry took a leap and William Ritter son of Kuno Ritter changed the Company's name to HUBERTUS.The name HUBERTUS in German means "The Saint of the Hunters". Walter Ritter and wife Beate took control of the operation of the Company in 1984 and are still producing knives in a little factory in Solingen Germany. Hubertus knives are all handmade and are some of the finest quality knives still in production today. This is an excellent Hunting knife by Huburtus. The knife has a fixed single edged 4 ¼” long blade with integral finger guard and 1” bone cutting saw section near to the hilt. The blade is crisply etched on one side with manufacturer detail and ‘Rostfrei’ indicating stainless / stain resistant steel (illustrated). The blade is clean. The knife’s hilt has excellent Stag antler scales secured by brass pins. The hilt contains folding blades / tools which consist of a 2 ¾” curved blade with purpose made blunted end for skinning or de-jointing, a corkscrew and a 3 ¼” saw blade with bottle opener notch and screwdriver tip. The fold out blades are marked ‘Rostfrei’. The knife comes with its original green leather scabbard which has a retaining strap with press stud fastener & removable frog with belt loop and retaining strap with press stud fastener. *Near Mint* WWI Era Imperial German Fighting / Trench Knife by Gottleib Hammesfahr Solingen Foche & Scabbard with Integral Belt Loop. Sn 5119. - Sn 5119
An original German WW1 Fighting / Trench Knife and scabbard with integral frog (see page 44 of ‘German Combat Knives 1914-1945’ by Christian Mery where a Gottlieb knife & scabbard the same as ours is illustrated). The knife has a 6” unmarked blade with medial ridge and has an overall length of 11”. The blade is crisply marked "Gottlieb Hammesfahr Solingen Foche " on one side, the reverse has a small Imperial Crown Inspection mark. The grips are wooden with typical nine diagonally carved grooves. The undamaged grips are secured with two brass rivets. It is complete with its original metal scabbard. The throat has a leather belt loop riveted to it. The belt loop has a single retaining strap with press stud fastener. The leather of the belt loop is in excellent condition and is intact and secure. This is an original German WW1 Trench Dagger. It has a deer's foot handle with brass ferrule and wave steel crossguard. It has a clean 5 ¼ " blade with medial ridge (10" overall). The hilt is fitted with original felt washer. The blade is crisply marked by the manufacturer 'Acier Superieur Garanti' between 2 Anchors.
