Norwegian Helle Fabrikker Hunting / Fishing Knife and Open Top Ornate Metal Scabbard. 15908:3. - 15908:3
Helle Fabrikker is situated in Holmedal, a small village by a Norwegian fjord. Here Nature, and a love of the outdoors, is a part of everyday life. This has been the home of Helle Knives since the brothers Sigmund and Steinar Helle started their business in 1932. These knives are not to be confused with "factory-made" knives that are usually produced in big volumes, on automated high-production machinery. At Helle, each knife is essentially hand crafted by experienced and dedicated cutlers. Each blade is individually ground by hand to achieve a shaving-sharp edge. Knife handles of carefully selected Arctic Curly Birch and "aged wood" are precisely shaped, and finished to a hand rubbed patina. The polished single edged blade is 11cm in length (21 ½ cm overall). It is laser etched; 18/8 High Carbon Edge – A/S – HELLE FABRIKKER – NORWAY. The solid hardwood grip is unmarked held with silver metal coloured pommel and base. Two Tanto Blades With Webbing and Leather Sheaths. 21263. - 21263
The Tanto blade history goes back all the way to 12th century feudal Japan, to be specific. Then and there, samurai carried two swords for combat, one long and one short. The latter was known as the tant!3; (which translates to "short sword" or "dagger"). The tant!3; that samurai wielded were different from tanto knives you'll see today though; they maintained a continuous edge that curved near the tip like some straight back pocket knives do. The Texas-based knife manufacturer Cold Steel gets credit for introducing the sharp angle into the blade belly, sometimes referred to as an American tanto, in the early 1980s. The black model has a 14 ½ cm Stainless Steel blade (28 ½ cm overall) and steel grip with diamond pattern and integrated strap hole. The steel ricasso has a minor mark which is negligible. The black webbing sheath has an integrated belt hoop and straps for combat equipment attachment. The other has an 11 cm Stainless Steel blade (21 cm overall) and a rubber grip with diamond pattern and integrated strap hole in the brass coloured pommel. It has a brass coloured ricasso below the grip. The thick black leather sheath has a double integrated belt hoop to the rear with a Velcro holder. Both blade and sheath are in very nice condition. The price is for the two blades and includes UK delivery. 21263. (Fighting Knives)
