WW2 1944 Turkish Army Model 1938 (Mauser Gew 98) K.Kale AS FA (Askari Fabrika, or Military Factory) Ankara 7.63mm Calibre Bolt Action Rifle With Turkish Government Markings **VERY EARLY UK 1988 DEACTIVATION WITH REPLACEMENT EU 2024 CERTIFICATE** D 1501 - D 1501 Independently produced by the Republic of Turkey, these World War II vintage Turkish K.Kale M1938 Mauser rifles are good solid rifles. While all previous models of Turkish Mausers and many of the so-called M1938s were actually made in Europe, K.Kale marked rifles were manufactured in Turkey. The first domestic-made Turkish Mauser-type rifles, they were built in Kirikkale Tufek Fabrikast, a government-owned “Military Factory.” During World War II for the first time it had to rely on local armouries to produce military firearms. Thousands of Gew.98s were parted out and converted to the M1938 configuration. These were for the most part marked ATF, for Ankara Tufek Fabrikast (Ankara Rifle Factory). Between 1940 and 1946, the K.Kale factory manufactured around a quarter-million rifle receivers. Top production years were 1942 (53,000 rifles) and 1944 (49,000 rifles). Additional markings atop the receiver ring are a star and crescent moon, with the letter abbreviations T.C. (Turkiye Cumhuriyeti, or Republic of Turkey); AS FA (Askari Fabrika, or Military Factory); ANKARA, for the city where the K.Kale factory is located. This 1944 dated Turkish Mauser Model 1938 was made at K.Kale AS FA (Askari Fabrika, or Military Factory) Ankara. The barrel shank is stamped with factory markings, Turkish Crescent Moon & Star, inspection marks and serial number 186380. Our all original example is in excellent condition. It has a 29 ¼” barrel with original cleaning rod and sling swivels. The rifle has a steel butt plate, the stock is slotted and ringed for sling anchor & it has an adjustable rear sight. Originally deactivated to a very early UK specification in 1988, the original deactivation certificate was lost at some point in its life and in 2024 a replacement EU deactivation certificate was issued. **RARE** Pre 1918 Winchester 1879 Patent (Mod 1885) ‘Winder Musket’ .22 Long Round Calibre Falling Block Single Shot U.S. Military Training Rifle. D 1500**UK ONLY 2024 DEACTIVATION CERTIFICATED**D 1500 - D 1500 The Winder musket was a .22 calibre military training rifle used by the U.S Army in the early 20th Century. The weapon was the brainchild of Colonel C. B. Winder, who advocated marksmanship training with a rifle of similar size and weight to a service rifle but chambered in .22 rim fire, which was both economical and suitable for indoor ranges. The Winder Musket was based on the Winchester Model 1885 single shot rifle. Although it was never officially referred to as the Winder musket, the weapon was informally named in honour of Colonel Winder, and has since generally been referred to as the Winder musket. The Winder Musket was superseded by the 1922 Model bolt-action training rifle. Winder Musket serial number records are sketchy having several gaps in the record log. Winders made in 1918 and 1919 were given the designation ‘Model 87’. This is an excellent original example of the rare Winder Musket. It has no designation marks but does have crisp patent and manufacturer detail stamped on the top steel action tang ‘Pat Oct 7th 79 (1879) Winchester Trade Mark’ and serial number ‘102269’ on the lower action tang. It has a 28” round steel barrel (43 3/4” overall), an adjustable rear target sight and block & blade fore sight. The barrel is stamped with calibre detail ’22 Long R’. It has a steel butt plate, fore end block, barrel bands and a single sling swivel. The metal retains its original blue finish. The Musket has excellent all original undamaged wood work which has just minor bumps and bruises consistent with age and service use. It has an external hammer. The rifle’s original UK deactivation certificate was lost at some point in its life and a new UK only deactivation certificate was issued in 2024. 19th Century Belgian Octagonal Single Shot Break Barrel .22 Pistol. D 1493. **EARLY 2005 DEACTIVATION CERTIFICATE** - D 1493 A Belgian single shot 7” break barrel (has been plugged, rendering the firearm decommissioned) rimfire pistol, with octagonal barrel stamped ‘modele depose’ (Registered Design in French) with numerous inspection marks and checkered walnut grips (stamped ‘170’ to the underside). Single shot pistols .22 calibre colloquially known as a 'suicide special' because they were small, cheap and therefore fairly common in the days before gun ownership was strictly regulated. As a result, by virtue of being available, they were often used in suicides undated. The weapon cocks and dry fires as it should. The price includes UK delivery and deactivation certificate. D 1493. WW2 1940 British WD Enfield MK 1* .380 Calibre Spurless Tankers Service Revolver **EARLY UK 1996 DEACTIVATION CERTIFICATED** Sn 17399 - 17399 This is an original WW2 dated .380 calibre, Tanker's Service revolver. These 5” barrel pistols were used by soldiers in tanks & armoured fighting vehicles, spurless to minimise the chance of cocking the weapon accidently when climbing in and out of tight spaces. It is date marked, '40' (1940) with WD arrow on top of the barrel and also stamped ‘CAL .38’. The frame is marked with Enfield’s combined ‘ED’ mark and ‘1*’ designation. The pistol is serial number S8704 which is stamped on the frame and barrel block. The bakelite grips have ribbed panels. The underside of one grip has an old stable, secure chip. The pistol is fitted with Military lanyard ring. Deactivated to early UK specification in 1996 the pistol has cut and ringed cylinders & blocked barrel. WW1 Era British Officer's Issue, Spanish Eibar Arsenal .455 Calibre 6 Shot Double Action Military Service Revolver (S&W Russian Top Break Pattern) **UK 2011 DEACTIVATION** Sn 17699:5. - 17699:5 In 1914, with the beginning of the First World War, Gun manufacturers located in the City of Eibar Spain began equipping the French Army with revolvers. At that time Smiths & Wesson’s American patents did not protect their designs in Spain and the Spanish companies produced revolvers identical to S&W Russian Calibre top break and hand ejector type revolvers. In WW1 the British Army faced a shortage of their standard Officer’s issue Webley MK VI revolvers and ordered supplies of the Spanish made large calibre revolvers (see pages 57-58 of Revolvers Of The British Services 1854-1954) . This example of the Spanish made service revolver which is designed using S&W Russian Calibre top break action designs is in very good condition and is of the type issued to British & French Officers during WW1. It has a 5” barrel with top rib which is stamped ‘Manufacture Especial De Revolvers Garate Anitua Y Oia Eibar Espana’. It has military fixed sights and lanyard ring. Finished in blue the right side of the frame is stamped with ‘Manga Registrada’ mark and ‘Hege’. The frame is stamped with serial number ‘109’. The pistol has a colour case hardened hammer & trigger. The barrel block has British proof marks and calibre information (illustrated). It has undamaged chequered panel grips (the grips look short, but they are exactly as they should be). Deactivated to UK specification in 2011 the pistol has a ringed cylinder and blocked barrel & it cocks and dry fires in both single & double action. SOLD SOLD (03/09) WW2 Era. *MATCHING NUMBERS* U.S. Army Thompson 1928A1 .45 Calibre Sub Machine Gun With Original 50 Round 'Type 'L' Drum Magazine**UK 2008 DEACTIVATION CERTIFICATED***Sn - 20845 This is an excellent matching numbers, WW2 Era, Thompson 1928A1 SMG. It's wood pistol grip and fore stock are in nice undamaged condition as is its metal work. It is crisply stamped ' Auto -Ordnance Corporation, Bridgeport, Connecticut, U.S.A. on the right side of the frame together with U.S. Patent detail and 'Thompson Submachine Gun, Caliber .45 Automatic Cartridge U.S. Model 1928A1 No. S440347' on the left side of the frame and on the frame underneath theh detachable stock. The muzzle is fitted with original 'Cutts Compensator'. It is complete with an original 50 Round 'type L' drum magazine with Crisp instructions and Seymour Products Company markings. The fixed rear sight bed is stamped ‘Lyman’. It is fitted with sling swivels and has a steel butt plate with trap. German, Inter War Period, 1929 to 1933, Matching Numbers, Mauser Model 1914 Pistol. **EARLY UK 2003 DEACTIVATION CERTIFICATED** - D 1489 This is a German, Mauser Pistol Model 1914. The pistol was first made in 1914 and had various improvements in its service life. This pistol is the fifth variant of the Mauser model 1914 and is referred to as the 1914/34 transitional pistol which was in production from 1929 to 1933. This matching numbers pistol carries the serial number 498985 on the slide and the dismounting button of the front of the gun. The pistol is stamped on the left hand slide MAUSER- WERKE A.G.OBERNDORF AN and Cal. 7,65 – D.R Pu.A.P on the other side. The pistol carries proof marks on the right hand side of the receiver and the top of the slide near the rear sight. The pistol retains much of its original blued finish and has its original one piece chequered grips fitted which are uncracked. The pistol cocks, dry fires, the safety catch works together with the release button and the magazine can be removed. Deactivated to early UK specification in 2003 the rifle cocks and dry fires and the bolt can be removed. The price for this Mauser pistol includes UK delivery and deactivation certificate. **RARE** Inter War 1932-1938 German Model 712 7.63mm Calibre 'Broomhandle' Mauser Schnellfeuer (Rapid Fire) Selective Fire Pistol**1990 EARLY UK SPECIFICATION DEACTIVATION CERTIFICATED** Sn 18783:19 - 18783:19 The Mauser, Model 712, Schnellfeuer (Rapid Fire) was manufactured by Mauser Werk in Germany from 1932 to 1938 (see page 317 of Axis Pistols Vol 2 By Still). It was the fully automatic version of the model 1896 (C96). In 1940 Large numbers of this pistol were procured by the Luftwaffe for Motorcycle Messengers and Anti-Aircraft Corps. This is nice, original and rare to find example of the Schnellfeuer made by Mauser. It has undamaged metalwork with even patina throughout. It has undamaged grooved ‘broomhandle’ wood grips. It has a 5 ½” barrel, blade shaped block fore sight and adjustable tangent rear sight. The right side of the frame features the correct thumb operated fire mode selector switch and safety catch. The top of the frame is stamped 'Waffenfabrik Mauser Oberndorf A/N' and has a small inspection mark. The frame is also signed ‘'Waffenfabrik Mauser Oberndorf A.Neckar D.R.P.u.A.P.’. The pistol is serial number 84293 & is complete with original magazine. The base of the magazine is crisply stamped with the Mauser Trademark. Deactivated to early UK specification in 1990 the pistol cocks & dry fires crisply and the magazine can be removed. The price for this rare pistol includes deactivation certificate and UK delivery. **DEACTIVATED**Transit Cased WW2 1942 Nazi German Luftwaffe MG81 Aircraft 7.92x57mm Mauser Machine Gun Spare Barrel With Luftwaffe Inspection Marks And Nazi Manufacturer Code ‘twh’. D 1486 - D 1486 The MG 81 is a German belt fed 7.92×57mm Mauser machine gun which was used in flexible installations in World War II Luftwaffe aircraft, in which capacity it replaced the older drum magazine-fed MG 15. The MG 81 was developed by Mauser as a derivative of their successful MG 34 general-purpose machine gun. Development focus was to reduce production cost and time and to optimize the machine gun for use in aircraft. Developed in 1938/1939, it was in production from 1940 to 1945. A special twin-mount MG 81Z (the Z suffix stands for Zwilling, meaning "twin") was introduced in 1942. It paired up two of the weapons on one mount to provide even more firepower. The MG 81 was used in several types of Luftwaffe bombing and recce aircraft like the Ju-87D, Ju-88, He-177, Ju-188 (an image of an MG41 is illustrated in image 1, in the image below the MG81 a double barrel MG81Z can be seen. The guns in the image are for illustration purposes only and are not included). This is an original deactivated German MG81 spare single barrel in its transit case with the webbing carrying strap. The barrel is deactivated by condition (breech slotted and barrel blocked). The barrel is stamped with Luftwaffe Eagle inspection stamp, calibre detail number 34775, U above 210 and twh manufacturer code (unknown) alongside ‘42’ 1942 date (illustrated in the images). The barrel’s transit case is of pressed steel construction with a hinged lid and clasp fastener. The container retains much of its original green paint finish. WW2 1942 Australian WD 'CSR' The Colonial Sugar Refinery, Sydney NSW MK III* Brass Signal Flare Pistol. D 1479 - D 1479 An excellent Australian WD WW2 1942 MK III* Brass Signal Flare Pistol manufactured by The Cane Sugar Refinery, Sydney. The pistol has a flared brass end piece and is fitted with undamaged grips with chequered panels. It has crisp manufacturer's 'CSR' Sydney cartouche (Colonial Sugar Refinery Company Sydney New South Wales, see page 56 of The Broad Arrow by Skennerton) together with War Department stamps. '42' (1942) date and 'III*' model detail on the left side of its frame. It also has serial number 9952 & inspection mark on it's right side (all illustrated). The pistol is complete with military lanyard ring. Deactivated to UK specification in 2019 the pistol breaks open as it should & it cocks and dry fires.
