SOLD SOLD (28/04) **RARE**WW2 Nazi German 3rd Variant Sauer 38H 7.65mm Calibre Semi Automatic Pistol. Sn 22426:72 - 22426:72
The JP Sauer & Son Model 38H is a 7.65 mm (.32 ACP) calibre fixed barrel blowback operated semi-automatic pistol with a magazine capacity of 8 rounds. There are 4 recorded variants of these Nazi pistols (see pages 48 to 52 of Axis Pistols by Still). Sauer & Son were in stiff competition with Mauser and Walther in the small pocket-pistol market when they developed the Model 38H. At the outset of WW2 the pistol was issued to German Police Units as well as some 200,000 being ordered for the Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe. This is a rare original Nazi marked WW2 Sauer 38H 3rd variant pistol in excellent condition ( see page 52 figure 9c of Still’s book where a 3rd variant is illustrated). It retains its original military blue finish and has undamaged black bakelite grips with correct stippled grip panels (correctly only one grip has Sauer’s intertwined ‘SS’ signature roundel). It has the correct safety lever mounted on the left rear of the slide. The left side of the slide is correctly marked with calibre detail only and is without JP Sauer & Sohn Suhl name (The name was eliminated at about serial number 410000, see page 49 of Still’s book). The left side of the trigger guard is Waffenamt '37' (a characteristic of 3rd variants). The frame & slide are stamped with the WW2 Nazi Eagle N proof mark and the frame is serial numbered '457969' which is in the 3rd variant serial number range 339424 to 483015 (see page 49 of Still’s book). There are no visible maker marks or Waffenampt on the magazine. The pistol cocks and dry fires and the magazine can be removed. British WD WW1 1915 Webley & Scott Birmingham Brass 1" MK III Trench Flare / Signal Pistol Regiment Marked ’15 DLI 1’ to the 15th Battalion Durham Light Infantry Weapon Number 1. Sn 22426:70 - 22426:70
The Durham Light Infantry (DLI) was a light infantry regiment of the British Army in existence from 1881 to 1968. It was formed in 1881 under the Childers Reforms by the amalgamation of the 68th (Durham) Regiment of Foot (Light Infantry) and the 106th Regiment of Foot (Bombay Light Infantry) along with the Militia and Volunteers of County Durham. The regiment served notably in the Second Boer War, World War I and World War II, the Korean War and the Indonesia–Malaysia confrontation. During the First World War, the D.L.I. expanded to 42 battalions, seeing active service overseas – on the Western Front (at Ypres, Loos, Arras, Messines, Cambrai, the Somme and Passchendaele), in Italy, Egypt, Salonika and India. Some battalions were part of the Army of occupation in Germany after the War. The regiment earned 59 battle honours and won six Victoria Crosses, but at the cost of 12,006 dead NCOs and other ranks. When officers are included this rises to approximately 12,530 – the 10th highest of any of the infantry regiments of the British Army. The 15th Battalion DLI mobilised for war on 11.09.1915 and landed at Boulogne. They were and engaged in various actions on the Western front including; 1915 The Battle of Loos (the Division suffered over 3,800 casualties and took the rest of the year to rebuild): 1916 The Battle of Albert, The Battle of Bazentin Ridge, The Battle of Flers-Courcelette, The Battle of Morval, The Battle of Le Transloy: 1917 The German retreat to the Hindenburg Line, The First Battle of the Scarpe, The Third Battle of the Scarpe, The flanking operations around Bullecourt, The Battle of Polygon Wood, The Battle of Broodseinde, The Second Battle of Passchendaele, The Cambrai Operations: 1918 The Battle of St Quentin, The First Battle of Bapaume, The Battle of Messines, The Second Battle of Kemmel, The Battle of the Aisne 1918, The Battle of Albert, The Second Battle of Bapaume, The Battle of Epehy, The Battle of the St Quentin Canal, The Battle of Cambrai 1918, The Battle of the Selle. 11.11.1918 they ended the war at Berlaimont, France. This is an original British WW1 brass 1" MK III Trench flare pistol made by Webley & Scott to the 15th battalion DLI. It has its original wooden grips which are undamaged. It is stamped on the left side of the frame by the maker together with clear proof inspection marks, War Dept arrow, ’15 (1915 date) and ‘III’ (mark 3 designation). The right side is stamped with serial number '9467’ and has Webley’s winged bullet trademark. The pistol has a military lanyard ring & the grip strap is Regiment marked ’15 DLI 1’ to the 15th Battalion Durham Light Infantry Weapon number 1. The pistol breaks open, cocks and dry fires crisply. WW2 1945 Dated British M 67 (Daimler Motor Co Ltd) MK II Bren .303 Calibre Light Machine Gun****UK DEACTIVATION CERTIFICATED**Sn 22426:64 - 22426:64
The British Bren Light Machine Gun was introduced in the 1930's and used extensively by British & Allied Forces throughout WW2. Bren Guns were produced predominantly in Britain, Australia & Canada. This is an excellent British WW2 dated .303 Calibre MK II Bren Light Machine Gun. All of its metal work & woodwork is in excellent condition with original finish and it is complete with its bi pod, flip up rear sight, carry handle, sling swivel & original box magazine. The frame is crisply stamped 'Bren Mk II' model detail. It is also stamped 'M67' which is the British War Time Code for Daimler Motor Co Ltd, Coventry & Burton-On-Trent together with '1945' date. The frame is numbered RB5452. Deactivated to an early UK specification its original deactivation certificate became lost at some point in its life and a replacement certificate issued in 2025 without the need for any further deactivation work. Boxed Uberti New Army Model .44 Calibre Muzzle Loading Revolver with Accessories **UK 2007 DEACTIVATION CERTIFICATED**D 1517. - D 1517
The 1858 Remington New Army Model, was a single action, 6 shot, percussion revolver manufactured by Remington & Sons in .44 Calibre used during the American Civil War. These weapons were also popular with both Union & Confederate Officers during the Civil War. The Remington design lives on today in the form of quality black powder firearms from manufacturers such as Uberti, Pietta, and Euroarms. This deactivated Uberti made example of the New Army .44 calibre large frame revolver is in excellent condition. The steel pistol measures 13 ¾” overall. The 8” octagonal sighted barrel is crisply stamped by the maker ‘A.Uberti & C.Gardone V.T. Italy’ & model detail ‘Mod 1858 .44 Cal New Model Army’. It has a brass trigger guard and polished wood grips. The pistol is serial number 53640. The pistol comes bespoke hardwood felt lined box with Remington ephemera, two cartridge boxes and a brass-coloured metal powder flask with a depiction of The Alamo’ either side Deactivated in 2007 the pistol cocks and dry fires crisply, correctly in single action only, its cylinders and barrel are blocked. Post 1896, Small Frame Webley MK III .380 Calibre Pocket Revolver With Spurless Hammer**UK / EU DEACTIVATION CERTIFICATED** Sn 17699:11. - 17699:11
Webley MK III .380 pocket revolver's were introduced in March 1896 (see page 151 of Bruce & Reinhart's book Webley Revolvers). This is a very good example. The small frame pistol has a 4" barrel. The frame of the pistol is stamped with the numbers 'Z7765' and ‘10267’ also 'Webley Patents', Webley 'winged bullet' legend & ‘Mark III .38’. The cylinder frame is stamped signed 'P. Webley & Son, London & Birmingham'. Its metal work has its original blue finish and its Webley signature black chequered composite grips, secured with a screw bolt are excellent & undamaged. It has a spurless hammer to prevent snagging on clothing if carried in a pocket. Deactivated to UK/EU specification in 2021 it has a cut and ringed cylinder & the trigger revolves the cylinder. The Mitragliatrice Breda calibro 8 modello 37 (commonly known as the Breda mod. 37 or simply Breda 37) was an Italian Medium machine gun produced by Breda and adopted in 1937 by the Royal Italian Army. It was the standard machine gun for the Royal Italian Army during World War II and continued to be used by the Italian Army after the conflict. The Breda 37 was meant as Company / Battalion support as compared to the more troublesome Breda 30 meant for squad/platoon support and proved far more effective in combat. Production ended in 1943, but it was still used as a standard machine gun after the war. This is an excellent WW2 era Breda Mod.37 Medium Machine Gun with tripod. It is fitted with flip up long-range sight. The machine gun retains its original finish. Deactivated to UK/EU specification in 2021 the weapon’s fire lever moves. The gun has manufacturer, model designation, numbers and 1939 date on the frame & measures 50” overall length. The tripod which has graduated angle of fire indicator markings is in excellent original condition and retains all of its original green paint. The tripod is numbered N10758 and has its original manufacturer’s identification plate dated 1938 (illustrated). The price includes UK/EU deactivation certificate. This is an excellent Inter War German K98 infantry rifle. The rifle has an adjustable rear sight, block & blade fore sight, bayonet bar & steel butt plate. It has all original laminated wood stock which has just light bumps and bruises consistent with age and use. It has forward sling bar and the stock is slotted for sling anchor. The rifle is fitted with leather sling. The breech is crisply marked Deutsche Waffen Und Munitionsfabriken Berlin. There are no Imperial german or Nazi marks indicating inter war manufacture and there are no date marks. The weapon is serial number ‘4899’ and has other un-matching numbers. **THE SMALLEST & LIGHTEST**1920 Webley & Scott Hammerless Model 1912 6.35mm (.25 Auto) Calibre Automatic Pocket Pistol ** 2018 UK / EU DEACTIVATION CERTIFICATED** D 1530 - D 1530
Webley & Scott introduced the Model 1912 automatic hammer-less pocket pistol in 1912 to compete with Colt-Browning designs of that era. Although strictly a pocket pistol due to its diminutive size small leather holsters were also used to carry these pistols. These pistols were the smallest and lightest of the Webley Auto range of pistols. The pistol is serial number ‘132150’ which dates its manufacture to 1920 (see pages 222 to 232 of Webley & Scott Automatic Pistols by Bruce). This is a good original example with correct internal hammer, correct chequered stock plates which have no cracks or chips. It has open sights & original 6 round magazine which is released by pressing a button on the bottom of the frame between the grips, this operates as it should. On the left side of the pistol, it has Webley & Scott name, calibre detail, Webley winged bullet trademark and ‘Safe’ above the frame mounted safety catch lever. The grip strap has serial number ‘132150’. Deactivated to UK/EU specification in 2018, the pistol’s slide, trigger & safety catch move, and the magazine can be removed. SOLD SOLD (07/03) WW1 1917 British Decimals Ltd Selly Oak No.1 MK II Trench Warfare Barbed Wire Breaker / Cutter For Attachment To S.M.L.E Rifles. Sn 22426:41 - 22426:41
This is an original piece of WW1 dated trench warfare equipment. Barbed wire posed a significant obstacle to attacking troops: it slowed or prevented progress across the battle field and made soldiers easy targets while they were tangled or being cut free. British rifle fitted wire breakers / cutters were 1st approved for service in 1912 and developed throughout WW1. This is a very rare WW1 dated British wire breaker / cutter No.1 MK II for attachment to S.M.L.E rifles (see page 366 of ‘The Lee Enfield Story’ by Skennerton). A copy of an original WW1 photograph of a British Soldier carrying an S.M.L.E with a wire breaker / cutter attached is illustrated in image 1. The No1 MK II was designed for attachment to rifles without bayonet attached. The Soldier in the image has one of the other variants most likely the No.1 MKI which were designed to be fitted to rifles with bayonets attached (see page 363 of Skennerton’s book). The all steel construction wire breaker / cutter is in excellent fully functioning condition. It has the correct steel horns jaw and hinged clamp with wing nut & bolt for rifle attachment. The metal work is excellent with even patina and is crisply stamped ‘Decimals Ltd Selly Oak No.1 MK II 1917’ (Decimals Ltd are recorded as makers of British WW1 wire breaker / cutters on page 367 of Skennerton’s book). This is an extremely rare British War Dept Factory Sectioned Cut-Away Lee Bren MK 1M Bren .303 Calibre SKN Armourer’s Instructional Light Machine Gun. We have never encountered one of these pieces. They were manufactured utilising components from out of service WW2 LMG’s, assembled by the Gun trade and by REME workshops. The frame is stamped ‘Bren MK 1M’ designation. This example is double stamped with the correct SKN designation and numbers ‘SKN 3783’ and SKN 2811’. It has its original dial sight, bi-pod and rotating carry handle. The component parts including the magazine were carefully sectioned at the factory, with cutaway areas painted red. This SKN is in excellent overall condition. The SKN cocks and dry fires and its magazine can be removed.
