Transit Cased, WW1 British WD Barr & Stroud Ltd Vickers Machine Gun No 12 MK III Rangefinder With WW1 1917 Dated Houghton & Butcher Tripod (Supplied To Irish Free State Army In 1921) . OPT 818 - OPT 818 This is a WW1 era British Vickers machine gun range finding No 12 MKIII scope with case and 1917 dated tripod. After WW1, in 1921 these rangefinders together with other arms and equipment were supplied by Britain to the Irish Free State (IFS) army as a result of IFS’s support during the great war. These rangefinders were used by machine gun crews to calculate the distance / trajectory of targets bot in direct range and distant peaks to triangulate on maps. This set in contained in its original wooden transit chest with its rare leather cover. The range finder was manufactured by Barr & Stroud Ltd under a British WD contract and retains its original green paint finish and shoulder strap. The scope has identification plates with WD marks, designations and Barr & Stroud Ltd London manufacturer detail (all illustrated). The tripod stand is marked with Houghton & Butcher manufacturer detail, serial number, No.14 MK II model designation & ‘1917’ date. The wooden chest is in excellent condition with all straps and catches in good working order. Internally the case is in similar condition and is complete with its brass attachment rod in the lid compartment and original instructions for use. Transit Cased, Soviet-Afghan War Era 1977 Russian AON-1 Prismatic Tank / Armoured Vehicle Gun Sight With Accessories. Sn 17709 - 17709 This is an original Soviet gun sight for Tanks & armoured vehicles. The sight retains all of its original paint. It has the correct graduated dials. The body has identification markings ‘AON-1’ above 021-77 (1977 date). It has its original handles and eye cup. The sight measures 10” width x 12 ½” height. The sight comes with its original steel transit case which retains its original finish and has matching stencilled markings. The case with hinged lid, clasp fasteners and carry handle has compartments to fit its accessories which consist of replacement lens housings, rubber fittings and grommets, cleaning cloths and illustrated instruction pamphlets all in Russian text. (German Africa Corps) Wehrmacht Rundblickfehrnrohr 36, Rbl.F. 36 Optical Gun Sight / Prism Tank /Gun Sight Used PaK Anti Tank Guns & Panzer Tank Guns By bmj (Hensoldt). Sn 17722 - 17722 This is an original Rbl.F36 optical sight for Artillery Guns & Tanks most likely captured during the WW2 North Africa campaign. These sights were used on the following: PaK 36, 38, 40 Also In Pz.Kfw. 38(t) Pz.Kfw. I, Pz.Kfw. II, StuG IV, JadgPz. IV & Panzerjagr Tiger (p) (Elefant). The steel sight retains all of its original DAK sand coloured paint. It has the correct graduated dials. The optics work perfectly and have the correct graduated reticule. The body has identification markings ‘Rbl.F36’, number ‘570905’ and Nazi manufacturer code ‘bmj’ which is Hensoldt u. Soehne, Mechanisch-Optische Werke AG, Wetzlar. WW2, Armoured, U-Boat Turret, 'U-Bootglas' 7x 50 Binoculars By Carl Zeiss, Jena (blc). OPT 817 - OPT 817 In early 1943 the Nazi German Command, introduced the 'U-Bootglas' 7x 50, Armoured, U-Boat Turret, Binoculars (see pages 377/8 of Military Binoculars & Telescopes By Seeger). These Binoculars are a nice original example. The Binocular's armoured body has black finish and lanyard bars. The lenses are protected by heavy duty rubber shrouds and eye cups which are fixed in place. The right shoulder under the rubber shroud is crisply stamped by the lens manufacturer’s Nazi German Wartime code 'blc' which is Carl Zeiss, Jena, together with 7x50 (magnification) & Number '68368'. These binoculars were originally issued without carry cases and in transportation crates of 10 for use by U-Boat crews. The optics of this instrument are perfect. WW2 Nazi German Sand Camo Tropical Climate Deutsches Afrika Korps (DAK) 6 X 30 Magnification Dienstglas (Service Glass) Binoculars By 'ddx' Voigtlaender u. Sohn AG, Braunschweig. OPT 816 - OPT 816 An original pair of WW2 Nazi German, 6 X 30 Magnification, DAK infantry Officer's Binoculars. The binoculars have a Sand/ Tan Camouflage paint for desert / Afrika Korps use. These binoculars have their original adjustable Bakelite eyepieces. They are 4 1/2" length & the body of the binoculars have lanyard bars. All optics function as they should. The binoculars are crisply stamped 'Dienstglass 6x 30', with serial number '326496' together with 'ddx' which is the Nazi wartime code for Voigtlaender u. Cased, WW1 1918 British WD Officer's Verner's Pattern MK VIII Military Marching Compass By ‘T.Cooke & Sons Ltd London & New York’ & Period Brown Leather Case By Optician Houtchison Edinburgh Scotland With Wrist Strap. OPT 815 - OPT 815 Colonel William Willoughby Cole Verner was born in 1852 and commissioned into The Rifle Brigade in 1874, retiring in 1904. He served on the staff in the Egyptian campaign of 1884-85 and during the Boer War. He died in 1922. During his career Verner patented several marching Compass designs. Whilst the basic prismatic compass design has its origins in Schmalcalder's patent of 1812 (Patent No 3545), Verner's Pattern is a significant development. Verner's Patents were all pocket compasses. Model numbers were issued to his compasses starting with a Verner's Pattern V with developments through to the VII, VIII and the IX of WW2. Verner's Pattern compasses are both incredibly popular with collectors as well being a compass that can still be practically and easily used today. The most common models are the Verner's Pattern VII and Verner's Pattern VIII which were mainly used during WW1. Their basic construction is a prismatic dry card compass with a both a momentary bearing lock and transit lock. This is an excellent original example of the MK VIII. It is fully functioning. It has a brass case and is mounted with lanyard ring. The glass face and numbered brass outer ring are perfectly intact. The lid is stamped 'Verner's Pattern VIII'. The rear of the case is stamped with WD arrow between A-E and by the manufacturer ‘T.Cooke & Sons Ltd London & New York’ together with '1918' date and 'no.64935'. It is complete with brown leather case with hinged top and buckle fastener. The case is lined in maroon felt. The inside of the case lid has a nice original label ‘Optician G. Houtchison 18 Forrest Rd Edinburgh’. The case has its original leather wrist strap with buckle. All leather and stitching of the case are clean & intact. The price includes UK delivery. WW1 French Berthiot Paris 3-1282 Societe D' Optique Brass Trench Periscope. Sn 17481 - 17481 SOM (Société d'Optique ) Berthiot or Berthiot in short was a French optical company founded in Paris at the beginning of the 20th century. The Company made quality cameras and optical equipment, including trench periscopes for use in WW1. This is an original Berthiot trench periscope. It is in excellent condition with fully functional optics. It measures 26” length and can be unscrewed into 3 sections. The brass retains traces of original grey paint. WW2 1943 Busch Rathenow German Army Bakelite Compass With Blackened Brass Cover. Sn 17408 - 17408 This is an original WW2 dated German Army marching Compass. It has a polished steel mirror inside its blackened brass hinged lid, pointing arrow and Bakelite casing. One side of the casing has graduated numbers 1-5 (in cms & mms). The Bakelite has 3 small cartouches one with the maker’s name ‘Busch Rathenow’ another with ‘43’ (1943 date) and the other with inspection mark.
