WWI Trench Periscope No 25 (X6) and Case by R. & J.Beck Ltd. 19369. - 19369
Trench warfare is a type of land warfare using occupied fighting lines largely comprising military trenches, in which troops are well-protected from the enemy's small arms fire and are substantially sheltered from artillery. Periscopes were used to survey the surrounding area, although they were prone to being damaged by rifle fire. WWI Trench periscope with its original leather case. The handle periscope measures: (L 8cm x W 4cm; H 83cm - fully erected), with handle and leather case. The periscope bears the following incised markings: 'Periscope No 2 / R. & J. Beck Ltd / 1918 / No 4890 / (broad arrow). The periscope still retains the majority of its olive drab paint, and the handle is in remarkably good condition. The original thick leather case retains all but one of its tabs. The leather straps are working *one shortened. The leather has a lovely aged patina. An excellent piece of history for the collector. Hensoldt Wetzlar Diagon, 7x50, Rubber Armoured Marine Binoculars. - OPT 795
Hinsoldt made quality and robust binoculars. In 1928 Zeiss took a 54% shareholding in the company and by 1968 was the sole owner. The Hensoldt trademark was only used for military contract work. The Zeiss trademark was used on all other products. This is a nice pair of classic German marine binoculars by the famed quality maker Hensoldt Wetzlar and are fully armoured for marine use. The eyepiece cover is retained by a thin cord but is missing its sides. The optics are in excellent condition and the individually adjustable eyepieces adjust easily. The top of the rubber armour has moulded into it HENSOLDT WETXLAR on the left hand prism cover and 7 x 75 on the left prism cover. Under the top rubber covers, the binoculars have the HENSOLDT WETXLAR logo and DIAGON 7 X 50. The front of the prism has the serial number 915511S which dates them to the mid-1950s. The front of the hinge is stamped MADE IN GERMANY. The price of these nice naval binoculars includes U.K. delivery. OPT 795

These are an original cased pair of WW1 era German, Fernglas 6 X 39 Magnification Infantry Officer's Binoculars in as found un-messed with condition (see page 20 of Military Binoculars & Telescopes For Land Air & Sea Service by Seeger). The binoculars have a field green finish with adjustable eyepieces. The body of the binoculars have lanyard bars fitted with original leather neck strap. All optics are excellent & function as they should. The binoculars are stamped 'Fernglas 08', together with the manufacturer's name ‘E. Leitz Wetzlar’ and number ‘52271’ (illustrated). The binoculars are contained in their fitted sturdy leather case with hinged lid. The case is missing its shoulder strap with just remnants riveted to the sides of the case. The rear of the case has belt loops. The case is also missing part of its lid fastener attachment. The inside of the case has original paper Fernglas ’08 instructions in German text. This is a near mint original; WWII liquid filled arm compass issued to German Luftwaffe Pilots. It is complete with its original leather strap with metal buckle for wearing on the wrist with Flight suits. The rear of the Compass is clearly stamped with model detail ' AK39, FI 23235-1'. It also has serial/stock code number '3023916' (all illustrated). The compass functions as it should. Made of black Bakelite it features 360 degree markings on the face. Transit Cased Inter War & WW2 Era German Wehrmacht Hensoldt Wetzlar Rundblickfehrnrohr 32, Rbl.F. 32 4 x Magnification Panoramic Optical Gun Sight. OPT 794 - OPT 794
Moritz Hensoldt, born in 1821, is the founder of the Hensoldt line. In 1852, he established a small optical company in Sonneberg, Thuringia, which relocated to Wetzlar, Hesse, in 1865. Since then Hensoldt has been a vital part of the centre of optics and precision mechanics in Wetzlar. The Company made binoculars, rifle scopes and other optical Instruments for the German army through both World Wars. This is an original Rbl.F32 optical sight for Artillery Guns & Tanks. It is a 4-power, fixed-focus type with a field of view of 10 degrees. The steel & brass sight retains all of its original green paint. It has the correct graduated dials. The optics work perfectly and have the correct graduated reticule (illustrated in a copy of a diagram in image 1). The body has identification markings ‘Rbl.F32’, ‘Nr7’ and Hensoldt Wetzlar’. It also has Numbers ‘346137’, ‘M. H/6400’ and ‘KF’ (Kalt Felt indicating Cold weather lubrication). Its original steel transit case has a hinged lid and clasp fastener. Internally the case has contoured fixed wooden blocks which fit the instrument snugly. The top of the case has carry strap bars. The case retains its original green paint. An excellent British WW1 & WW2 Brass Trench Periscope with original case. The scope itself measures 17” overall without handle and is 29” overall with its screw off wood handle attached. It has an adjustable graduated eyepiece with Bakelite eye cup. All optics function as they should. The scope has its original leather lens cover attached to the frame. The frame is crisply marked 'Periscope No.14 TPL MK 4 OS 1427 GA R&JB (Beck Ltd) 9329'. The brass scope retains its original green paint. The scope is contained in its original hard fibre fitted case which has a padded hinged lid, webbing strap fastener with brass buckle and webbing shoulder strap with brass buckle.
