Vintage French National Police Kepi Scecam Bernay, Size 57. Sn 13907:55 - 13907:55 This is a very nice example of the French National Police Kepi Scecam Bernay. It is in excellent condition and retains the French National Police blue white and red enamel badge to the front. It has a chin strap with silver bullion decoration and secured with two rosettes, one either side. On the top it has silver bullion piped edges on the top and side. The cap has a black visor. It is in excellent undamaged condition. Inside it is lined with white cotton and has a black ink stamp "S B M Toulon 57" and handwritten "Biloute A.J.". The kepi has a black leather sweat band. **UNAVAILABLE**UNAVAILABLE**Obsolete Genuine Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) 'Night Bowler Hat'. 13907:51 - 13907:51 This is an obsolete genuine Royal Ulster Constabulary 'Night Bowler Hat' with RUC blackened cap badge and named inside to 'H. McCauley', made by Christy's of London. The night bowler hat is made from soft black felt and is in excellent condition throughout. It has a black leather chin strap which is folded up and over the top of the cap badge. The out side also has a black leather headband which is secure. There are single vents on either side. To the front it has a RUC blackened cap badge. Inside it has thin cork padding and a black leather sweat band which is stamped with the makers mark 'Christy's of London' and inside the sweat band there is a hand written name 'H. McCauley'. Three of the five helmets have a leather sweat band with string adjustment cord and chinstrap, the other two (South Yorkshire & Nottinghamshire) have a riot harness. The first is to Nottinghamshire Constabulary, and is fitted with a forehead leather sweat piece and a riot harness. The second, a Lincolnshire Constabulary, size 7". They are all blue serge bodies, one with a chrome rose boss, four with blackened rose bosses and four have a Queen’s Crown (QE II) metal helmet plate and the remaining two have a Kings Crown helmet plate. All five helmets have a leather sweat band with string adjustment cord and chinstrap. The first is a six panel Kings Crown helmet to Somersetshire Constabulary, it has slight marks to the right side of the blackened helmet plate and the chin strap has parted on one side. The second, a two panel Sheffield City Police SOLD , size 6 3/4" which has a Kings Crown helmet plate to Constable '262'. This has a chin strap and is stamped by the manufacturer Everitt W. Vero & Co Ltd. The third is a two panel (SOLD) Sheffield and Rotherham Constabulary helmet, size 6 3/4" with chromed Queens Crown helmet plate. Vintage Issue Dutch Police Black Leather Uniform Belt With Vigilat Ut Quiescant' Two Piece Belt Buckle. Sn 13907:43 - 13907:43 An original vintage issue Dutch Police black leather uniform belt with two piece 'Vigilat Ut Quiescant' belt buckle. The belt is in very good condition, it shows signs of normal wear but is undamaged. The inside of the belt is lined with black coarse felt. It has brass eyelets on the lining for hooks to locate in for adjustments. It retains both leather belt keepers. The belt has a two piece metal, chromed Dutch Police 'Vigilat ut Quiescant' belt buckle, the meaning of the motto is "They (the police) watches lest they (the citizens) can rest". A Victorian Period Halifax County Borough Police Uniform Leather Waist Belt, Buckle and Clasp. Sn 13907:42 - 13907:42 The Halifax County Borough Police was formed in 1848 and amalgamated in 1868. This is an original Victorian period uniform leather waist belt, buckle and clasp. The waist belt is dark brown leather and shows signs of being worn. The belt is in excellent condition. It is 49" long when laid out flat. It has a buckle which allows it to be adjusted, in the photographs it is adjusted to 45". The belt has one leather loop. The clasp is chromed brass (non-magnetic) and has the Halifax County Borough Police crest in the centre along with "Halifax County Borough Police" around the outside. The leather fob behind the clasp has a number stamped on the reverse "55" making it a researchable item. The stitching on the belt is all present and secure. The price includes Uk delivery. Original Victorian Wrist Shackles / Handcuffs By 'W. Down'. Sn 13907:41 - 13907:41 These are an original pair of Victorian wrist shackles / handcuffs by 'W. Down'. The shackles are a matching pair and are hinged and sized to fit the wrist. Once closed a steel forged cap goes over the shackles and a chain is threaded through the cap and shackle. This method of shackling someone allowed several people to be restrained with one long chain, similar to the transportation ships used to ship convicts to Australia and also chain gangs, it allowed movement of the hands and arms but kept the prisoner secure. Both shackles open and close smoothly as they should. Both iron caps are stamped. The first is stamped with the number "26" and above this "W H". The second is stamped with the number "5" and "W. Rare 1800's Pair of American Sheriff's Western 'Plug' handcuffs and Twist Key. Sn 13907:40 - 13907:40 A rare pair of American 1800's Western Sheriff's 'plug' handcuffs with working key. These are very unusual, they have what looks to be a 'puzzle key' cut on a slant which is turned into the handcuff lock and it draws the threaded plug into the lock and locks it tight, the key can then be removed by pulling it back slightly and turning it. We believe this description to be accurate but there is very little information available to research the cuffs. The key operates both cuffs smoothly, they both lock tight.
