The second, a one piece ( sOLD) York City Police, size 7 1/8", the third is a six panel Dorset Police helmet with side chrome rosettes, the fourth is a six panel Nottinghamshire Combined Constabulary helmet with cloth external headband and the last is a six panel Devon & Cornwall Constabulary helmet with side rosettes and no chin strap. Rare Designer Metropolitan Police Womens Uniform Cap By Simone Mirman. Sn 13907:34 - 13907:34 This is a scarce 1967 era Metropolitan Police Women's designer uniform hat by Royal Designer Simone Mirman, Complete with Metropolitan Hat Badge. Simone Mirman, died on 1st August aged 96, she was one of Britain's best-known milliners, designing hats for members of the royal family, show business personalities and aristocrats during a career that spanned half a century. She had her own showroom and a workroom in which half a dozen women would make up her designs. In 1952 she had been visited by a lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, who invited her to show a collection of her hats to Princess Margaret at Buckingham Palace. Princess Margaret became one of her most loyal clients, and Simone Mirman was granted Royal Warrants by both the Queen (Simone Mirman created the hat worn by the Queen at the Investiture of the Prince of Wales in 1969) and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. Her clientele extended far beyond royalty, also including actresses such as Vivien Leigh and Valerie Hobson, and the cream of English society. In 1967 Simone Mirman designed the caps which accompanied Norman Hartnell's new uniforms for women of the Metropolitan Police. This is one of those caps, as a trial hat for Police women of the era in the Metropolitan Police. 1n the 1960-1970's London was the centre for fashion and design and as such the uniform was being re designed by Norman Hartwell. The hat is in perfect undamaged condition. It has a large visor peak which is lined on the under side in white. The top is made up of 12 sewn segments with a button in the centre, all made in dark blue cloth. The hat has a black and white chequered band with Metropolitan cap badge. On the inside it is lined with purple silk and has a 'Simone Mirman' white label which says "Designed by Simone Mirman Paris London Roma". There is no size in the hat. Barcelona Policia Municipal 6 Panel Mounted Police Solar Topee Helmet With Chin Strap and Helmet Badge Number 1811. Sn 13907:27 - 13907:27 A Barcelona Policia Municipal 6 panel mounted Police solar topee helmet with chin strap and helmet badge. In Spanish towns and cities, the Policia Municipal (Municipal Police), also known as the Policia Local or Guardia Urbana, is a police force organized at the municipal level. Municipal police are authorised in every town and city of 5,000 or more people. The Policía Municipal de Madrid is the largest force and the Guàrdia Urbana de Barcelona is the second largest. In towns and villages that are too small to organize a municipal force, the function is performed by the Guardia Civil or by the Autonomous Community force. The helmet is white with a vent at the top. It has a stitched 1" head band and metal "Polica Municipal" badge with number "1811" cut out of it. The edge is finished with a folded stitched piece of material. The inside has a leather sweat band and stitched adjustable black leather chin strap. It has a black lined inside. South African Police 6 Panel Solar Topee Pith Helmet & South African Police Helmet Badge, With Leather Chin Strap, Size 7 1/8".Sn 13907:24 - 13907:24 This is a very nice condition South African Police 6 panel Solar Topee Pith helmet, complete with South African Police helmet badge and leather chin strap, size 7 1/8". The solar topee, pith helmet was designed to shade the wearer's head and face from the sun. Pith helmets were often worn by European travellers in the varying climates found in Africa. This helmet has a cloth folded khaki headband. It has a vented top and leather chin strap. The outside covering is free of damage. The brim edge is edged with folded stitched leather. Inside it has a leather sweat band which is in excellent condition with a drawer string. The sweatband has a handwritten size "7 1/8". The underside of the brim is lined in green cloth. Pre 1952 Kings Crown Wigan Borough Male Constable's / Sergeant's Blue Serge Helmet With Blackened Kings Crown Wigan Police Helmet Plate, Size 7 1/4". 13907:23 - 13907:23 Wigan Borough Police was formed in 1836 and as part of reforms became Wigan Police until amalgamation into The Greater Manchester Police in 1974. This is a very good, Kings Crown male Constable's / Sergeant's helmet of Wigan Police. It has a blue serge body, rigid combe to provide greater protection during public disorder with chrome combe plate and blackened Wigan Police Kings Crown (VI) metal helmet plate. The patent plastic chin strap is present. The inside has leather sweat band with string adjustment cord. The sweatband has an ink stamp ‘7 1/4’ (size). It is in very good condition.
