2001 Republic Of Ireland / Eire, ‘An Garda Siochana’ (Garda) Male Police Officer’s Uniform Service Cap With Metal Cap Badge. POL 405 - POL 405 Formed in 1923, the An Garda Síochána (The Guardian of the Peace), more commonly referred to as ‘the Garda’’ or ‘the Guards’, is the police service of the Republic of Ireland. The service is headed by the Garda Commissioner who is appointed by the Irish Government. Its headquarters are in Dublin's Phoenix Park. This is an excellent original Garda Male Police Officer’s Service Cap. Made of dark blue serge material, it is clean and undamaged. It has the correct cloth covered stiff brim and chin strap with buckles secured by plain plated buttons. The front of the cap is mounted with its original Garda cap badge. The cloth lining with leather sweatband is clean with just service wear to be expected with service use. As was common, the Garda Officer who was issued with the cap appears to have formed the cap into a military saddle shape with slashed peak. The sweatband has a safety pin attached to it with small paper label printed with 12th June 2001 date (illustrated). The cap is approx. UK size 6. The price includes UK delivery. POL 405
